Lmbo, I dont know why Im a yo-yo BC'er, but I am. This is my 3rd time doing this, and its seems after about 3 or 4 yrs I get bored with my hair, and relax it, them somehow drift back to my natural roots. I havent had much success being natural, but Im hoping the 3rd time is the charm.
Has anyone else been a yo-yo BC'er? What was your "ah-ha" moment that made you finally except being natuarl and being successful at it? I REFUSE to relax my hair again. I've known this for many years now that relaxers JUST DONT AGREE WITH MY HAIR!!!! lol..

I am a Yo-Yo Bic Chopper since 2003, I have been at it for years, But I did love being Lightly Relaxed, I still had my curls but was softer all day. I think I am going back to lightly relaxing every 4 months or so.

Yeah that was my attempt this last time, just relaxing a lil bit to keep some texure but not completely straight....yeah well it didnt work on these kinks so here I am again.
My tight thin 4a hair strands cant take no chemicals and my scalp, oh my thats another story. No matter how often I wash my hair the scalp STAYS itchy.

Congrats on your BC. I just was never all that tied to a relaxer in the first place. Once I found out that flat irons can do the same job as a relaxer could (for my hair, at least), I was sold!

I was a 3x BCer. First time was in 2001. I kept it about a 1 1/2 years, then switched back to relaxing out of boredom and to see the length. I wasn't really good at the whole straightening thing, plus I live in Florida (damn humidity). The second time was in 2004. I'm not sure why I went back. Guess I just had fond memories of my natural days, and again about 1 1/2 years later went back to the relaxer. The last time, I had way to many flakes and like to wash my hair way to often and thought about how I could wash as often as I needed to when I was natural and chopped off (or rather shaved off) my hair again in 2007. Due to the access to Youtube and so many hair boards now, I think I might just keep my hair natural. I even did a successful blow-drying and flat-ironing a couple weeks ago, so if I really get that itch to have straight hair, I'll just go the temporary route instead of opting for the relaxers. It's been 3 years and I'm still going strong.

Its pretty soft when wet. Not so sure how "soft" when dry tho. Any guess as to my hair type? Ive alway thought I was a 4a. My hair looks really dense,thick full, but whe pulled into ponytail its pretty thin. My strands are really thin too.

SB, let the cat out the bag! Very naughty! I think being texlaxed works better for me and my hair. I can do wash n gos and twist outs without SS knots. I haven't texlaxed yet, but I probably will in the future. No more BCs in my future unless by force!

Girl that is my motto as well, "Third Time's the Charm!" I am almost 1 year post relaxer, currently in kinky twists, and plan to bc soon. My first bc was in 2005. Started relaxing again about 5 months later. The second bc was in 2006. That time I stayed natural 2 years & 4 months. My last relaxer was June 2009. I can't wait to be natural again. Congrats to you! Your hair does look nice & soft.
