. . . I should follow up with a conditioner? Is using just a leave-in okay?

(Sorry, I'm still new to all this.)

Thanks,

GG

I find it helps to balance out the protein. It couldn't hurt, give it a try and see if you like it!

Hi GG,
I usually don't use another conditioner after my reconstructor. I use Giovanii Direct leave-in and that balances my hair out. :) How does your hair feel? If it feels a bit rough and tangled to you, you may want to use another conditioner. Hope this helps.

For the love of christ, DEEP CONDITION!!!! You'r hair will break if you don't.

 Depending on the strength of the protein, you could follow with a moisturizing DC or you could rinse and use a moisturizing leave-in.

I was just about to say the same thing, i kid you not!:lachen: Please deep condition, maybe you could apply the leave in and then put a plastic cap or bag over it? You can even use your regular conditioner. Either sit under a dryer for 15 mins or leave it on w/o heat for 30 -45 mins.

what reconstructer are you using...it depends for me. If I use AO GPB I dont have to follow up...nor do I have to follow up with Apoghee 2 minute Keratin Reconstructor or ORS. maybe cuz Im natural? who knows.

Yikes - there are some strong opinions on this! I used a J-Pak reconstructor. After leaving it on for five minutes, I rinsed it out and then towel dried. Spritzed with a leave-in conditioner and then my usual moisturizers (water-based, followed by oil-based). So far, so good . . . don't notice a difference in my hair (for good or bad, but it's only the first treatment, so . . . .). Not sure when I will do it again . . . probably week after next.

If I were you I'd deep condition with a moisturizing conditioner...the last time I used a protein reconstrutor and didn't dc afterward I saw broken pieces of hair thruout the week. I haven't made that mistake anymore. :naughty:

You have to feel your hair to answer your question. If my hair feels hard, brittle and difficult to manage then I need a super moisturizer.

Some proteins are the devil to balance.

You can use cholesterol. Mix it with 2TBSP of honey, coconut milk/cream/oil, and, jojoba oil, and whatever carrier oil you have at home. Also, Motions have a deep conditioner--> Motions Moisture Plus DC.
