Man, I wish i could get a nice set. I eventually stopped doing them and just did flexirods because my rollersets were pointless.

I just bought a set of rollers from Sally's (before reading this thread). I have never tried a rollerset before, but I figure I have nothing to lose. I will give it a try this weekend and post pictures of the results

I do think it is technique. Once you have the products and the technique down - rollersets can be successful.
