Singles..Are you,without thinking about it,attracting the guys w/your HAIR?

Hair is extremely powerful. It's almost kind of scary.

I don't really get much attention regarding my hair because I don't wear it down and out very often. But when I do? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!:drunk:

And the attention isn't just from men. It's from men, women, and children alike. HAIR. IS. POWERFUL.:yep:

Yes, it is! I bun a lot and even THAT brings the MASSES! LOL!

I just don't think people are used to seeing black women with LONG hair that they didn't have to buy or steal from somebody!

It's quite a treat! Maybe I'll straighten on the weekend and wow thle crowds! ;)

Do you ever feel self-conscious when you wear your hair down, though? Sometimes I do... I feel like everybody is STARING!

It's like "WHAT?!"

Yeah hair is powerful, esp. to men. When I was relaxed men loved to play in, touch, run their fingers through, etc. my hair all the time. I'm pretty easy going about hair, and love to have my hair played in, so I never paid it any mind. Until a friend of my told me that men often like to play with your hair when they like you.

After I went natural guys didn't really play in my hair anymore. They seemed to still like it, but no more playing in it (I guess the idea of getting your fingers caught in some curls isn't as appealing, lol). Although a guy friend of mine did seem to really like my hair and even asked me once if he could smell my hair.

Now the only people who like to touch my hair are women, and they always want to pull on the curls and see them spring back like a slinky toy. But when I last straightened my hair a lot of the men I knew seemed a bit stunned and surprised. One guy I didn't know even did a triple take.

Seeing as how this is a hair forum it's a bit surprising that we sometimes ignore the power and effect of beautiful hair (esp. if it's long) on others.

yup!

well for the record if thats all your hair and you in the pics on your profile I love your hair as well, I can see why others do

yes....it's me

thank you......
I've long way to go, tho

You know, I don't think I even realized how powerful long/big hair is.

I was looking through my best friend's wedding album awhile back. I was between midback and WL at the time and had gotten a press for the wedding. When I saw a pic of myself with all that hair, my eyes got wide and I actually said to her, "OMG, I didn't know my hair was that long!" She was like, "Um, how could you not know? It was on your head!" :lachen:

Seeing it in a picture stunned me. I used to get stared at a lot, and I know why people were staring, but until I saw it myself, I didn't realize what they were really seeing.

So anyway, yes, hair can be mesmerizing.:yep: Nowadays, people are fascinated by the size and thickness of my hair. This dad at my daughter's school came up to me one day and said, "every time I see you I just want to play in your hair". I was like :giggle:. I told my dh, and he was all salty. :lachen:

hahaha

I think hair and scent are very important. I think the mixture of both brings out the fetishy side of some men. :look:

I remember this one dude would always try to stick his nose in my hair. It was cute for awhile but then it got weird, you know? I'd be like... umm.... :perplexed stop... please?"

I rememeber before LHCF a guy i was dating told me that the first time he met me, he knew i took care of myself just based on my hair.

He said it just looked healthy and wasn't coifed in some skyscraper with brown gel or snatched back in a dry flaky ponytail.

That was one of his prerequisites. Hair must be healthy and look good or else he couldn't deal with u. It turned him on to see a woman take care of her REAL hair.

:lachen: This reminds me of the funny story you told about some guys at a barbecue wanting to touch your hair, and your husband being mad about it when you told him later.

I'm surprised he hasn't asked you to start putting out a mass disclaimer or wearing a t-shirt with a warning on it. But gon wit yo bad self anyways :yep:. I guess sometimes a man has to be reminded that a lot of men think natural hair is just as fascinating and sexy as straight, long hair can be. ;)

:yep: I always tell my dh about it for that very reason...just because YOU don't like it don't mean other men don't appreciate it.:giggle: I have to say, I didn't really expect black men to like my hair, after hearing so many stories about how they hate natural hair. Most of the reaction from black men has actually been positive. I think the "big hair" factor helps a lot.:lachen:

Wow, that's a first.

yes i think my hair has broken some necks.....men and women burn holes in my scalp....but with black men it is all about healthy hair...and for me the longer the better...i swear they are all up on me :look:...ive even had a few run their fingers through while hugging me :giggle:...i think its cute...all my exs HATED WEAVE WITH A PASSION....:lachen:

Yes, i strongly think my hair draws guys and other people. I do not wear my hair out at all. But whenever i have it out in the house my SO tells me i should wear out more. So i plan in 2009 to wear out more in the summer and back to my bunning.

Yeah, it's flattering but kind of unnerving at the same time. Almost like being some kind of freak show, "Look at the long haired creature!":lachen:

I
today 2 more compliments
this mommy of the Jewish school I music teach at on Wednesdays
actually went looking for me and stopped me and said

my daughter said to me Mommy....K's hair is so beautiful
it's like black cotton candy
I don't know if she'll tell you

I said oh that's the BEST compliment and so poetic
and her mom nodded and said
yes..she's deep

.

Wow, that is beautiful. I love the way she phrased it and its so true. the bolded is the best characterization of natural hair I have ever heard.

OK!! When I see ladies like Cichelle, DSylla, Chicoro, FlowerHair, etc. That is some hypnotic hair right there, enough to put folks in a trance over!

When I was little my Mom cut her hair short once and my Dad was so upset about it. I couldn't understand why at the time but once I grew up and got it, I REALLY got it. Hair has a life of its own, it truly does.

Thank you :Rose:

Yes, hair - especially big and/or long hair is truly alluring to many men. I think it's a combo of
1. everything feminine is better when it's bigger  (hair, butts, boobs)
2. You look like you take care of yourself - that you actually care about what you look like...that's an attractive trait
3. Big curly hair equals sexy, wild and free

Regardless of whether a woman has short or long hair, she can be immensely attractive when she embraces her beauty :)

I remember that thread in the hair section about hair and s-e-x :drunk:

This is so beautiful..you helped me a lot with this answer
I am ambivalent about my own potential.... period

and that includes pysche..appearance ..hair..et al

No need to be ambivalent anymore...you are gorgeous and your hair is big and beautiful and dreamy! This is your time, claim it! :D

The most wonderful thing is when you meet that special someone that you want to give your heart to and do your hair just for him

THIS made MY day

bless you for such a sweet and powerful affirmation
and on a day... I surely needed it

Some men are intrigued by my locs - I think they associate them with a certain persona, not exactly sure what. They definitely like them more the longer they get. I get a lot of stares and compliments from black women believe it or not. Though I think long and straight/curly is still the ultimate to a lot of men, when I had loose natural hair they loved my big curly twist-outs. I workin on losing 20lbs, but when both my body and hair is on point I'm a head turner..

I got attention with my short hair. I have men tell me how they loved my hair all the time. They really like hair that is becoming on a woman. I wore long weave(though not mine), and I never received as much attention than when I wore it short. I do think some men like longer hair, but if you can rock what you've got and be sexy and confident at the same time, they LOVE IT!

I agree..along with the self confident attitude and feeling of sexy with healthy hair its a turn on....when I big chopped my hair it was because when it was out the apparent difference of the healthy hair vs the not so healthy chemical treated hair was drastic and having it long wasn't so important to me as having it healthy and when I cut it instantly felt 100x better about it and it showed....men were all over it...I would just comb it into a afro fluff and men and women were always complimenting it....I had a whole section on my dvd where i talked about hair and had my lil afro out and how I felt about it....and people loved it along with me

See, that's why I don't wear my hair out that much because I get too much attention, especially unwanted attention from losers. However, one of my New Years Resolutions is to wear my hair out more often in 2009. Maybe someone will ask me on a date.

Kayte - you're really pretty too. You just look peaceful and happy...that combined with great hair would turn many heads :)

I co-sign wholeheartedly. It's so powerful to the point where it's discouraging.

I recently joined match.com again after an absence of more than a year. In the past, I had pictures of me with my hair weave. This time, I posted pictures of me with my hair in twist outs and soft waves, coming just at the top of my shoulders (however, my hair is currently, when straight, about 1 to 1.5 inches past APL). Sure, I got attention from guys, but it was NOWHERE NEAR as many emails as I would get when I had the pictures of me with my hair weave. I was so discouraged that I actually considered either 1) posting the old pictures again (I didn't) or 2) getting off the site and waiting until my hair grows so I can post pics of myself with longer hair. :(
