Since I have decided not to self relax how can I maintain my hair until August???? I already know that I will wash every few days with KercCare Hydrating, incorporate a few co-washes in,deep condition with ORS Replenishing (that's the only thing that's working at this point), air-dry and bun, use my beloved BT, moisturize my lengths with Elasta Mango Butter, and seal with Castor oil. Occasionally I might flat iron my roots, but I know I probably won't rollerset because they simply just don't turn out right with this much new growth and they take toooooooo long to dry. Are they're any other things that I can use to tackle dryness, splitends, and severe shedding (I always shed in the summer time)?

P.S. Im currently 10 weeks post

Seems like you have everything in order to me. you can always flat iron your roots when you do your rollerset.

You can also try braids or twists too. Your avatar is gorgeous. Keep up the good work.

make sure you detangle well at least once a week. I stretched for 13 weeks last time and I had so many single strand knots that was really just shed hair.

I'm stretching until August too. I'm getting married in Aug. 9 so I want a fresh perm for the big day. I have been wearing buns and rollersetting/pincurling. I have also been washing and DCing once a week sometimes 2xweek depending on my workout during the week. I am going to try washing in braids with my next wash and see what results I get. My biggest problem is keeping this new grow in check. I have been blowdrying it straight before I roller set, but I end up sweating it out whenever I work out.

Braid outs and Co-washing should help a lot. And for moisture Add Honey. I could not believe this stuff was here in my kitchen and I have been ignoring it. I finished my 6 months today. Starting another 6 months stretch.

Good luck with the stretch. Keep us updated.

I don't know if this will help any, but why not try to stretch even longer and get some braids. This way, it'll give your hair a break, no heat, no manipulation, no stress. Give yourself one good deep condition, a slight dusting of the ends and stretch it until you feel like you want to let your hair out, and watch it grow. Besides, having your hair in bondage will save time getting dressed in the morning for work, etc. Hope this helps..

Great idea but there's nobody in my college town to get my hair braided. Its a white town and in order for me to get anything done to my hair, I would have to go home to Birmingham to get anything done.

Ok. I would ask around to some of the sisters, and see if any of them know of someone who could braid hair...or even cornrow it. Every sister knows a sister that can braid. That is how I would stretch it. When there is less manipulation, hair grows quicker. Or, it might be worth the trip to go home. The things we do for our hair....
