I've fallen and I can't get up.....fallen into hair apathy that is.

I no longer care for my hair anymore. It is like the obsession is gone and I have been too stressed to treat it nicely and wash it every three days. I have gone back to my pre LHCF days.

My growth has slowed down, I no longer vitamin pop, or try to eat protein, or try to drink lots of water, or try to moisturize moisturize moisturize, or gulp...I no longer watch how much my stylist trims and I just let him hack away at his discretion.
I even got a dark brown rinse to hide my highlights cuz they are starting to get dry all the time.

As a result my hair hasn't budged since July....it feels thinner too.

How can I jumpstart my hair dreams? I am looking at all your pictures and am overwhelmed with happiness taht you guys are reaching som emajor milestones and getting some super serious healthy heads of hair but it isn't hitting me to remain dedicated to the cause.

Sorry for the vent.

PS. To all my PJ buddies... I have not touched a new product since September (oh the shame)- clearly I need help.

actually looking at the ladies album helps me want to take care of my hair. i wish it was more advice i could give. i think the only thing that was hindering me from having long hair was constant heat, and NO moisture whatsoever. after i started eliminating and adding those things, my hair took off without the vitamins and the eggs and all that other extra stuff (none of which i do anyway). OR maybe long hair isnt in your interest anymore. if thats the case just focus on the health. there are a number of ladies here solely for health and not really concerned about length /images/graemlins/smile.gif After you get your hair on the right track you dont need the additional TLC as damaged hair and styling time becomes minimal as your hair gets healthier /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Stress can truly suck the energy out of you. I hope that things calm down for you soon. Have you tried simplifying you regiment? Maybe if you put a picture up on your mirror of you goal, so you can see it daily, it will motivate you. Most of all take things one day at a time.

/images/graemlins/spank.gif snap out of it and get back on that road to healthy hair, missy!!! Honestly, though, just find ways to relax. Find time to take a breather and think about the things that make you happy!!

Sounds like you're depressed. Been there, am there. However, find one thing that you absolutely enjoyed about taking care of your hair. Focus just on that and do it regularly. Then find something else, be it the smell of a certain conditioner or the feel of a scalp massage. Focus on the pleasure, not the work.

Sounds like its time for some BRAIDS!!!!! Having your hair up will give you a little break & easy maint., so you can focus on other things. I'm getting braids next saturday because I've been messin in my hair to much! do the crow & glory method and your hair WILL THANK YOU FOR IT IN THE LONG RUN. (www.growafrohairlong.com )

Hey Bimbabe, I hear what you saying. I've actually been going through the same thing. I haven't felt like doing anything to my hair. I just slick it into a bun and call it a day, especially since it is getting cold. I haven't washed my hair for more than a week (I usually wash every 3 days)

I think going with the braids might actually be the best thing now. Personally, I'm gonna start twisting my hair and wearing my plain black wraps again. I scare some of the white folks when I do this but I don't care. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Maybe you need to find a really easy routine that works. That way, you can get on with your life AND have healthy hair. When taking care of hair becomes too much work, it starts becoming easy to just do nothing. Good luck with turning things around. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

bimbabe,

I just looked at your album and your hair is beautiful! /images/graemlins/smile.gif I don't see why you are complaining because I wouldn't mind having hair like yours. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

From your post, it seems like you were doing too much with your hair. I couldn't imagine trying to wash my hair every 3 days. I would say wash it at least once a week to give you a break. Like heat, sometimes washing your hair too much can make it thin too. Avoid as much manipulation as possible. I agree with carletta as well...you might wanna start wearing braids so you dont have to worry about your hair for a while. Also, you really don't need to take a whole bunch of vitamins just to make your hair grow. Just pick a few for your overall health of your body and hair.

Hope that helps! /images/graemlins/kiss.gif
