My husband installed one for me on Friday. I have been having such problems with dry, brittle hair. I've tried all kinds of products and nothing seemed to help. It would take me forever to detangle my hair. I finally decided, that maybe it's the water, and I think we have hard water.
So i clarified by shampooing my hair twice, i then used the triple moisture from neutrogena that everyone is raving about. I then proceeded to carry on in my usual manner, with leave-in, and then oils and then detangle with fingers and then comb thru and my hair appeared to be softer. It didn't take me that long to do my hair which also says something. I put it in bantu knots after i oiled my ends (castor oil on my ends is the da bomb) and the next day when I took each one down, it was incredibly soft. I have my hair in braids now, and I will continue to see if this shower filter is really helping my hair. I really hope so.

Glad that it worked for you! May I ask where your husband got the shower filter and the exact name of it? I plan on getting one this weekend for I am having the same problems with products as you were.

Wow fancypants, that is great. I pretty much had the same experience. I placed a post a couple of days ago and it got no response re: shower filters. I was wondering if it was just me or if others experienced the same success with detangling. I have super duper tangly hair and the filter seemed to help a lot and it also helps give a good lather.

tishee, you can purchase them from lowes or home depot. Walmart even has them I think, but I like the ones from lowes and home depot. Shop around and see which one suits you. Keep us posted on your results.

I want a shower filter too, I've been looking online. In addition to healthier hair, the filter should also have great results for your skin.

Here is what I posted on y'day regarding shower filters:

I know this is late. But yes, I use a shower filter and it makes a big difference. I've moved around a few times so I tend to notice the differences in water depending on the state/region. I grew up in Wash, DC and I love the water there or maybe my hair was just used to it. Then I moved to S. Carolina and I hated it and now I'm in Atlanta and I don't like their water either. What are your experiences?

Hi Tishee,

I purchased my shower filter from home depot and it is by Paragam or something like that. I paid $19.99 for it, but had to get the shower head and i think it cost $7.99. I really hope that this is the answer to my tangled hair. Right now i will be in braids for about 6-8 weeks, but i really hope it works, because my hair was getting worse being brittle and dry. I hope it helps you. I will keep everyone posted.
