i know they're out there! and you know you wanna share your story too :yep:

i went to get my hair shaped up yesterday after work (and y'all know i haven't been there since the Colts beat the Bears in the Super Bowl right? :lachen: ) she remembered me as soon as she saw me. 20 cool points right off the bat.

she did an awesome job shampooing, conditioning, detangling, blowdrying and flat ironing. she told me about every product before she used it in my hair (what it was and what she was using it for). she made sure to get all the old bits of color i had missed, and re-shaped my layers so that more of my hair would be the same length but still fixed the mess i had made of the top of my head. :look: and was super-friendly just like last time.

and she charged me the exorbitant, ungodly high price of... $35. :drunk:

Dear Ladylibra,

OMG! I just visited your fotki. Ya know doing my routine nightly fotki stalking. You gave me an heart attack! You are soooo wrong for that. I know it's not my hair, but still. . .

Signed,

a fotki stalker.

i had enough battery life to record a snippet of a video. wasn't gonna air it cuz i wanted to make a decent vid, but my camera phone is not cooperating on the pics today :wallbash: so i figure it's better than nothing.

okay for real i will stop get batteries tomorrow. i swear this time... :look:

WOW!!!! Your hair looks great. Love the shine and everything- and it looks like you got a great cut. Hold on to that stylist!

Your hair is so pretty curly- but it also looks great this way:yep:

ETA: you took it to a whole other level with the video. I feel like my family must think I'm crazy that I even have a picture fotki. I'd have to keep any videos on the low :sekret:

Your hair is lovely.:yep:

I don't have an issue finding good stylists.
Though I can understand why some natural heads have a hard time.

Shout out to Sharon aka Balisi.

She is the owner of Salon Balisi here in Atlanta, GA. I just had my hair appointment with her today, and she does absolute wonders!!! You'd think that I had my hair relaxed, but it's not. I know post are worthless without pics, so I will post my picture in a few moments.

I've only been to one, good stylist. He just did one relaxer for me. My last professional one actually, before going natural. I've done just as well myself, but what I love him for: I can trust him to TRIM! :yep:

I have a theory that because he's a man...he's reluctant to take off more than needed. You have to ASK him to take of more. When he says 1/4 of an inch...he takes of more like an 1/8!!

You suggest 1/2 an inch. He suggests 1/4!!

You ALWAYS face the mirror. He shows you each piece as he trims!!

I'm a DIY now being natural...but when I need a yearly trim/straightening...his hands are the only ones I'd trust. If any. I haven't come to that hurdle yet. This december...we'll see. :look:

I'm noticing with others too, letting a man trim/cut/style your hair = more hair on your head when you get out of the chair. Perhaps it's a string of coincidences. IDK.

how cool, i've never had a male stylist before! something i will keep in mind...

forgot to mention, my stylist ALWAYS had me facing the mirror, even if it was at an angle. well except when she blowdried. but while she was cutting and shaping... yep i could see every little bit she took off. :yep:

LadyLibra your hair is beautiful!!! Oh, btw I'm your new stalker to...:look:

after that pic, i'm stalking you right back! your hair looks gorgeous!

awwww i'm sorry she's in Indianapolis. maybe you could convince her to commute to Cali? :lachen:

now see, i go to indianapolis a few times a year. usually i visit yarn, bead, or button shops shops when I'm down there, but maybe i'll get my hair done next time.

really? i'd love to meet other naturals, you know there aren't that many in my city... and you are one of my favorite heads of hair. we don't even have to meet, i'll be the binoculars behind the bushes admiring your hair :lachen:
