Should I get braids at 7 weeks?

It's been 7 weeks since my last touch-up and I have lots of new growth, but it's soft since I've been using S-curl. Do you think I'd experience a lot of breakage if I got braids in a week or so and kept getting them back to back, and didn't get a touch up till the end of July? That would be about 4-5 months without a relaxer.

well i kno u'd have enuff growth to have the braids done without a lot of breakage and if u kept havin them done back to back for 5 months, may cause u to have quite a lot of breakage at the point of ________ i've forgotten what its called but its were the natural hair joins wit the relaxed hair....cud u not try goin shorter about 3 months or so in between relaxers but then usin the s culr on yo braids as well in moderation tho

Hi Kamilla!

When I first stopped relaxing in November, I first got flat twists and kept those in for a while. So it was a little over a month without a relaxer when I got my braids. I have not relaxed since instead I have been braiding and rebraiding my hair. I have had no breakage only minor shedding and my hair is 4b. I don't use the S-Curl activator but instead I wash the braids often and keep them moisturized. In place of the S-Curl I use braid spray which has the same key ingredient, Glycerin. Anywayz Keep us posted on whatever decision you make.

So Drea84,
Are you planning on relaxing again any time soon? I'm sure I'd keep my hair mosturized enuff to stop breakage from occuring

Ngaa~
When I say back to back I mean like getting braids and keeping them in for 2 months or less then letting my hair rest for 2-3 weeks then getting done again for 2 months. Hopefully it won't cause too much breakage also my new growth texture is not that different from my relaxed ends. I have 1 inch of new growth in some place!!! Go me! Go me!

I read somewhere that had said the only time braids cause breakage is due to tight braids, not taking care of them like washing them, moisturize them ect...
SO if you get braids...take care of them. Keep your hair moisturize. Breakage happens when you hair is dry and brittle.
I have braids in now...and I will keep them in for two months and then do a deep co and put them back in(a week's time)...you have to take care of your hair underneath the braids...moisture moisture moisture....that's the key to hair care..no matter what style your sporting.

Not really if I do relax it will be in June making it seven months without a relaxer. I'm not to sure though this transitioning thing is going good for me so I'll keep you posted!
