Should I be worried?

Hi I am kind of a newbie, but I have been lurking here for a while and getting great tips. Anyways, I went and got a relaxer today. My stylist always uses Mizani (no lye) and today she ran out of it before finishing up my entire head. Without my knowledge, she finished up the edges with Affirm (no lye) and told me what she did afterwards. I was pretty angry because I do not think that she should be using two different chemicals at the same time. She claimed that they have the same main ingredient. Do any of you know if this is true? Please let me know if you would recommend that I do lots of extra protein treatments for the next few weeks and ditch her as my stylist!!!
P.S. She did comment about how much my hair has grown since my last touchup (thanks to you ladies). Now I feel that I may lose all of my progress plus some. Help!!!

I've never used those 2 perms, so I have no idea of the ingredients. As for the stylist, well, I won't allow a stylist to touch my hair with a ten foot pole... so I'm inclined to say yeah, dump her, however, that's not quite fair... so, i'll just leave that issue for u to decide. HOWEVER, running out of a product then finishing with another just seems like a very tacky move.... (( cringing ))

This woman is definitely not professional in my opinion. She didn't even ask you before she did it. What if something tragic happened? I think someone else posted awhile ago about their stylist doing something similar. I would definitely move on, unless you think she has good intentions and it won't happen again. If you do keep going to her, tell her to make sure she has enough product before she starts. I'm surprised she told you at all. Did she tell you on her own or did you read the container?

She actually came out and told me that she did it. I was surprised that she told me as well. Peachtree, I wish that I could be like you and stay away from stylists, but unfortunately, I love Mizani. I don't think that I can buy it myself without a cosmetology license. I love how she styles my hair (and she is cheap too) but I will have to think long and hard before I go back to her. I have been looking at this site daily and working very hard at making my hair healthier and stronger. I don't want to have to start all the way back over from scratch!!!

I hope everything will work out for you. I've never had the experience that you are face with. The closest would be two different relaxers 8wks a part. I was always told that as long as they were the same type of relaxer (lye with lye) my hair would be more forgiving. I hope this will apply to your situation. I would recommend that you do a search of the board to see what some of the members do post relaxer like protein , moisture treatments and pay attention to your hair's needs if anything changes adjust accordingly.

Well,

for your peace of mind, even though it's two different BRANDS of relaxer, the active ingredient is the same.

She definitely should have let you know just because that's the professional thing to do.

.... I'm glad that she told u before hand, but imo, she should have AT LEAST been "product" prepared for ur arrival. Supergirl has confirmed that the active ingredients are the same. BUT KEEP UR EYE ON HER....

I bought some Mizani yesterday and i assumed they were all no-lye but i don't see any listing on the package. How do i know, it's no-lye?

The one at the salon says "sensitive scalp" and as far as I know, most sensitive scalp perms are generally "no lye". Where did you buy your Mizani? Did you order it on-line? I would love to be able to buy it myself and not have to depend on a stylist. Some of the other ladies would be better able to tell you than I though. Anyways, I wanted to thank you all for your quick responses!!!
