SHOCKER: Elucence EMR & Elasta BCS are the same!!

Supergirl

With Love & Silk
Okay,

So I'm reading the Elasta Raves thread and it says that Kenra owns Elasta, Elucence and someone else too I think.

Then I link to the Havana Beauty Supply Page and look through al of the Elasta Products. The Breakage Control Serum sounds really interesting. It mentions plant proteins and polysaccharides as some of its ingredients. Well, the Elucence Extended Moisture Repair does not list ingredients (it's supposed to be patent-pending or something), but it does tell you on the web site that it has wheat protein (a plant protein ) and polysaccharides. THEN, I see on the Havana Page that the directions for using the Elasta Breakage Control Serum are the EXACT same as the directions for Elucence Extended Moisture Repair.

In light of recent Mizani discoveries, I could not resist the urge to play detective so I jumped into my car /images/graemlins/driver.gif and went to Walgreens to check out the Breakage Control Serum up close and personal. (I'm already a proud owner of the Elucence product). I took the top off of the Elasta in the store. SAME STUFF. SAME LOOK. SAME SCENT. EVERYTHING.

My first thought was that I would not spend $16 any more for the Elucence one. But actually, you're getting the same amount of product per dollar. The Elasta one costs less but the bottle is 1/3 the size.

I am not ragging on either company. I don't think it's a negative--just think it's neat. I'm also a little bit proud of my detective work too /images/graemlins/sekret.gif

/images/graemlins/shocked.gif What are we turning into at this forum /images/graemlins/laugh.gif
You know my son says I'm obsessed with this forum and if my baby can say this, I think it's time to take a break. I thought I was obsessive about finding info about a product. I'm calling all over the country /images/graemlins/phone.gif you jumping into cars /images/graemlins/driver.gif I've been saying it for awhile, I'm taking a serious break from this forum. And b4 I forget Sherlock Holmes, your detective work was toast/images/graemlins/cheers.gif Something I would have done /images/graemlins/wink.gif

If anyone inquires, Amethyst is on a serious break. I need to get my priorities back in order /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

LOL! Well, with you gone I know that I will save money. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I saw your MSM thread with the links and said, "There she goes again!" I just ordered a new stash of biotin and decided not to order any more MSM. Now, I will probably change my mind, thanks to you. lol

Actually, I was going to take a little break too, or at least not visit as frequently.

Re: SHOCKER: Elucence EMR & Elasta BCS are the sa

Amethyst,

We will miss you. You are right though, this board can get alittle addictive. /images/graemlins/drunk.gif

All true all true, but I only log on once a week usually on the weekend nights. Yeah I hav a week to catch up on but it's like spending the evening with my girls. This way it's more of a treat than an addiction.

/images/graemlins/laugh.gif You're a big trip CurlyCrly. You've forgotten you have over 600 members here with great tips and reviews about everything underneath the sun. So you have a whole lot to contend with if you are trying to keep your pjism undercontrol. This is not the place for product junkies to come and rehabilitate themselves. The temptations are too great lol.

Seriously, I'm relocating to Texas and I have alot to do in a very short period of time. Thanks for your replies on my thread and PM's Supergirl, I really appreciate it /images/graemlins/smile.gif The members care for one another at this forum and this is why I'm posting this here because I think it's only courteous to explain my absence. So if anyone asks please tell them I'm fine. I'm just very busy at the moment. I'm going to miss you all. Take care and stay sweet everyone/images/graemlins/wave.gif

You will definitely be missed around here.

Good Luck and God Bless!!!!

Bye Amethyst, /images/graemlins/wave.gif
Thanks for the PM, and don't forget to keep in touch. I will really miss you. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

SuperGirl,

Are you certain about this?

I've never purchased or used either product. Just like a lot of the Pantene conditioners have the same ingredients listed, but Pantene says their formulations (amounts that are added to each) are different. Maybe the Elucence Extended Moisture Repair has a few different ingredients. Who knows. I'd say call Kenra and see if they will confirm this for you.

I'm just going to keep on using what I have and what works for my hair. I refuse to get carried away with the minor details. This statement is only my opinion, and it's not directed towards anyone in particular. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Allandra, I wouldn't have believed it either if I hadn't read, seen, and smelled it for myself. The bottles are even the same with the same kind of squeeze top (the kind of top on liquid dish washing soap). Only, the bottles are different sizes.

I also now believe that this is another reason that the Elucence product does not list the ingredients. On the website, it says that the ingredients for the product are proprietary information, but it does say wheat protein and polysaccharides. On the Havana BS website, it also says plant proteins and polysaccharides for the Elasta product too.

If there be any difference in the two, from what I saw it is a very minimal and even undetectable difference.

SuperGirl,

You are so right. I just talked with Lisa Pleasant (as I have so many times before). She said that these two products are very similiar. /images/graemlins/smile.gif When she was given a sample of the Elasta QP Breakage Control Serum, the first thing she noted was that it looked the same, smelled the same and came in the same type bottle. She said she even called a chemist at Kenra for herself to find out if in fact it was the same product. The chemist said that there was a difference in each product, but only a small difference - the Elucence Extended Moisture Repair Treatment contains more moisture (so this is the difference).

I think we should give SuperGirl a cyber award for her detective skills. /images/graemlins/up.gif This information is good to know. I always wondered about the Elucence Extended Moisture Repair Treatment. Hmph. Now I can just go to the store and purchase the Elasta QP Breakage Control Serum and use that (FOR LESS MONEY). That's what I'm talkin' about. /images/graemlins/up.gif /images/graemlins/wink.gif Thanks for looking out for us. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: SHOCKER: Elucence EMR & Elasta BCS are the sa

Thanks for the award Allandra--I'm cheesin'! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

The Elucence EMR is some good stuff and a little bit goes a long way. Now regarding the prices: The Elasta was $4.49 at Walgreens and it is $5.59 on Havana. That's for 6 oz.

The Elucence is $16 for 16 oz. So they both have really similar prices too. 75-85 cents per ounce vs. $1.00 per ounce.

Thanks for readin'

Re: SHOCKER: Elucence EMR & Elasta BCS are the sa

If you add the shipping cost, the walgrens price wins. I'm going to check around locally to see if I can find it. There's no walgrens here, but I've seen Elasta products elsewhere. I didn't see that product on Havana's website when I searched though. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

You're welcome.

Re: SHOCKER: Elucence EMR & Elasta BCS are the sa

Curly,

It's the very last of the Elasta products on the Havana web site. You have to go through 3 pages of Elasta products and then it's on the 4th page.

Re: SHOCKER: Elucence EMR & Elasta BCS are the sa

Thanks supergirl! I see it now. Initially, I did a search for "elasta" products and only 1 page came up.

Now, if I only had a good twin for the Elucence Moisture Balancing conditioner.

Wow Supergirl...

Thanks for the discovery. Keep up the research. Now if you can only find the Elasta equilavent to the MB Conditioner... /images/graemlins/poke.gif

Re: SHOCKER: Elucence EMR & Elasta BCS are the sa

Curly,

I'll see what I can do about "detecting" a good match for the Elucence Moisture Balance Conditioner. My mind is wandering now...maybe the Elasta intense...

Amethyst,

Take care. Your personal life does come first, so everyone understands that. Hope your move goes well. It's a lot of work involved with relocating to another state. Best wishes.

Amythest,
I know exactly what you mean. I've been so addicted to this board lately and am trying to wean myself so I can focus on getting my grades up. I'll log on my computer and come to this forum before starting on my homework?!?! /images/graemlins/drunk.gif I really need to get my priorities straight!/images/graemlins/poke.gif
So good luck to you. Hope to see you around here again soon. I really enjoyed your informational and inspirational posts.
God bless,
Jen

Supergirl, Supergirl, Supergirl. /images/graemlins/nono.gif Thanks again for discovering the truth behind the Elasta QP Breakage Control Serum. I've always wanted to try the Elucence Extended Moisture Repair. Thanks to you, I purchased the Elasta QP BCS this evening. /images/graemlins/smile.gif Yeap, I sure did. Now I won't have to spend $16 to try it out. I decided to spend $6 and give it a try. I'll give it a try this weekend. I'm looking forward to using it. Thanks again. /images/graemlins/grin.gif I was waiting to use up my L'anza reconstructor before buying this. Thank goodness I only have enough left for one more use (which gave me the perfect excuse to buy the Elasta QP BCS). /images/graemlins/laugh.gif
