Shiny, Bouncy....Crunchy Hair

I just rollerset my hair for the first time in months if not a year. Unfortunately, I OD'ed a lil on one of the produts I used and some of my curls (ends)are crunchy. Is there anything I can do to my hair or use on my hair before I comb it out to soften it up?

Except for the crunchiness, I like the way my hair came out.

maybe you could try some serum or a creme moisturizer. maybe mix a little of both to soften the crunchiness. then finger comb gently to avoid any breakage.

Thanls caralexis. It softened it up just a little but next time I'm going to have to be more careful with the products. At the last minute I used Beyond The Zone Split Mender becasue my hair didn't feel right. It made my hair slippery but crunchy when it dried. I didn't even think it could do that since it isn't a setting lotion.

Thanks again.

Congratulations on performing a roller set. I. too, am a re-committed roller setter, after about six years of the "burn baby burn" routine - blow-dry and hot curl.

Anyway, you could perhaps try a doobie set.

Using a paddle brush, wrap the hair around the head. Sit under a hood dryer for about 10 minutes, on med. heat.

That might alleviate the crunchiness.

Otherwise, if you have a ceramic flat iron, that would do the trick as well. Just be certain to lubricate your ends first.

When I roller set, I always use a leave-in, followed by a setting lotion. I use Pantene Pro-V Relaxed and Natural Wrap and Set Lotion. I really like it.

I did a doobie afterwards..and it alleviated some of the crunchiness but it came to equal dry ends in the end.

I haven't had crunchy ends in YEARS...but it was the first time that I used the Split Mender for a rollerset..and I grabbed it at the last minute on top of that....I'll definitely have to be more careful next time.

Thanks for the advice.

A doobie set is when you roller set the hair and then wrap the hair around your head using a brush and sit under the dryer for a few minutes. When you comb your hair down, it should be very bouncy and shiny. I wear a doobie wrap and I love it!
