Shiny and Moisturized Look: Henna, Gel, Mousse

I received a lot of suggestions on getting my hair to look more shiny and moisturized. Thank you! Among the least expensive were henna and gel, so I wanted to try these first. Maybe someone could help me though.

How do shea butter, coconut oil, gel, mousse, and henna differ in providing a shiny and moisturized look to hair? Comments on just one of these or multiple of these are very appreciated! Why are they different? Why might one help more than another and another not help?:spinning:

I do not know why but henna makes my hair shine naturally and it is permanent. It is like a natural gloss

do you just want your hair to LOOK shiny and moisturized or do you want it to BE shiny and moisturized?

gel and mousse for shine and moisture? :perplexed this is the first i've heard of that...

ITA: I've been using Henna on my hair for about a month and a half now (once a week) and my hair has soooo much more shine! Even when it's curly and most people say that textured hair doesn't "shine" it has "sheen", well my hair has "SHINE!" even when curly.

Two thumbs up for Henna!!!

Both are of course amazing. Yet, my hair is relatively healthy right now so the look is of utmost priority! :yep: Tips on getting it to be shiny and moisturized are appreciated as well too. :lick:

Thanks! I didn't know that people used henna as often as once a week.

If you want a healthy way to get shine you can add a few tablespoons of pure (body art quality of course) Hennato your DC and leave on for 30-60 minutes. And if you need more shine than that you can always get a gloss/serum.

Thanks for the tips. I tried a shine spray and it didn't work. Perhaps glosses and serums work better on relaxed hair than natural hair? :look:

Henna seems to be one of those things that doesn't really hurt with abundance so that's why I do it once per week. I mainly do it so often however b/c I'm just starting with my Henna treatments. Most ladies that I know who are regular Henna users began with frequent treatments and then as time went on, cut back to about once to twice per month. That will be what I will do to.

Also, check out CurlyNikki's blog. She has some pics of her natural hair that will seriously blow your mind! She's an avid Henna user (She's the one who inspired me to use Henna) and her hair has shine without the use of gels, mousse or shine spray.

Just search around, she has tons of awesome pics of her hair!

HTH!

Thanks. I'll look into it. Another question pomade. This is made 'specifically' for shine. Does anyone use it? If so, how is it?
