Thank you, cmw45. I tried the Hesh Shikakai powder which I got at my Indian grocery for $2.99. It was everything you described. I did not need a leave-in and my hair is very shiny, very soft and very bouncy. I will include this in my routine as long as I get this result.

Methodology:
I mixed it with one of my Dominican conditioners and left it on for approximately 45 minutes. I rinsed it out and rollerset (6 big curlers) without a leave-in.

Weekly Regimen:
Henna - Saturday
Henna Gloss -Monday, Friday
Shikakai - Wednesday

Hennagirl...what did you do, mix the dry powder or make a tea? I have Hesh Aritha and Shikakai both still in the box. I did use one of them to wash some lingerie as it recommended, cannot remember which and too lazy right now to go search & look; great 'detergent' but warning ...do not wash whites-- will tinge brown!!
TIA {thanks in advance}

I bought the last three boxes of Shikakai and tranferred the powder to a tupperware container. I "dumped" about 15 - 20 mg into a glass bowl and mixed it with a Dominican conditioner - one of the Tropical ones. I left it on for about 45 minutes and loved the results. My hair felt strong yet soft.

Is 10g enough to sample it?

If so, you can get free samples: http://www.indian-herbs-exporters.com/herb-supply.html#sample

This is one of the suppliers on the HFH site. I ordered the larger sized samples from them that cost $1 each (free shipping) and, although it took a long time, it was worth it to sample.

They are packaged well in nice sealed foiled packs.

Edited to add:
Here is the site for the $1 samples I got:

Off topic interjection here but...........HoneyDew.....I'm so glad you are rid of the hair additions. Your real hair looks beautiful, healthy and thick. You go ahead and grow it out. You know what to do, do your thing!!

thanks so much girl! I feel so much better without that sew in. You know after it was removed I could tell that I would have had some damage if I had left it in. Just the way my hair felt after the braids were removed was :perplexed

Again, thanks so much! I really do need encouragement these days.
