All you ladies who were in sweetcashew's thread talking about your shedding, how is it going????

what are you currently doing??

I am still shedding like MADD! It is driving me crazy. I think it is the change of the season plus me getting off birth control.

I am at lost what I should do. I started a new vitamin regimen so I hope to see results in a few weeks.

Anyways, any updates? Positive or Negative?

Hi Mizanimami, I don't have anymore shedding, and I thank Supergirl for that, she really gave some good suggestions on what to use for this problem.

After the 2 weeks of treatment with Mizani Night time treatment (wonderful stuff), I decided to do the big cut. My natural hair is now on my shoulders. I've just washed my hair after the two weeks, this morning and I had maybe 2 strands of hair in the shower and absolutely none in my comb. :D

I hope the shedding stops for you. I know how you are feeling.

My hair hasn't stopped shedding completely but, it doesn't shed half as much as it used to. I remember a time I would look down and find three or four strands of hair at my desk with out combing it, lol.

Anyhow, it doesnt shed or break like before. Now I can literally run my fingers through my hair and sometimes nothing will come out.

Hoping that it stops shedding completely!!!!

I like Elasta QP damage control serum. I use those drain catchers and when I use this stuff I barely shedd a hair. I loooooove this stuff. definantly a staple for me:)

My shedding has slowed down alot, I basically braided mine up into a mohawk so I didn't have to be bothered w/it and was pooing and cond. it while it was braided. I just took my braids out last night and did an overnight Amla and Brahmi oil treatment, so I'll be washing my hair in a few to see if it really slowwed up, I know when I took my cornrows out I didn't shed too bad, fairly less than a days worth of shedding so will see. I also started taking my vits. again the begining of this month, I no there working because my appetite has increased again so hopefully they help w/the shedding.

You see, I don't think any product per say will help me. I am not breaking, I am shedding. I hope this too shall pass though...

How often are you using the serum? I read that its a mild protein treatment so we should be able to use it more often right? Is once a week too much? Does it really help with shedding or is it breakage that you are speaking of?

BeautifulWideEyes,

I took my cornrows down the other day and my combed out all the hair that should have shed while i shampooed/conditioned in the shower (one week and 3 days worth). It freaked me out a little but my hair still seems thick enough (hard to tell because it was wet)...is shedding with cornrows normal?

Are you applying anything to your hair while in cornrows to help curb shedding aside from vits? TIA :D

I am talking about both. I dont see a hair when I use this stuff. I saw that Anky and Babygurl use it so I got me some and I am a PJ so I have alot of things to compare it with. Its about 5 bucks. I use it as often as I want....twice a week as needed. Its really gentle. I also realize that what works for me doesnt necessarily work for someone else....but since Ive been on this board Ive learned so much from others....that I feel I MUST share my good findings with others.hth

I apply Come Back Hair cream to my scalp while in braids and moisturize the braids w/a braid spray and Hollywood Beauty carrot cream mainly on the ends. I do take garlic supplements so that may help. Yes it is normal to shedd while in braids that's why most of the time we end up with alot more since if the hair was out and combed daily those 10strands or so a day add up over the time it's not being combed until it's combed. Dont' be alarmed, I'm busy on here drinking Koolaid and eating turkey wings when I need to be shampooing so I can see how much sheddign I really have, .

My shedding has slowed down some too. I have been working out 4-5 days a week and instead of shampooing every day I would just shampoo once and co-wash the other days and that has helped a great deal. It's weird because on the days I use shampoo I tend to shed more. When I just rinse my hair really well and apply the conditioner, I only shed about 10 hairs. :scratchch I may be on to something here. :)

So long story short, I am still shedding, but thankfully not as much as before. :)

We're in the same boat. I just started wearing my hair out in July and I stopped bc pills around last month. So I know what you're talking about. I just think it's the season and my hormones getting balanced again. So to help my shedding I started taking GNC Nouirshair again and Sunday I used Ultra Sheen Duo Tex. I wearing a rod set so I don't see much shedding daily but when I wash my hair, Oh Boy!! So this weekend I'll see is there an improvement. If there's not much improvement in a month, I'm getting on Nioxin pills again. But my hair is still reasonably thick so I won't panic too much yet. Then I may keep adding MTG to the rotation too. Can't hurt.

I am taking zinc and Iron supplements a couple of times a month that has help tremendously.

To stop hair form shedding use Garlic Conditoner(it stops immediately)...
Elasta Qp Breakage COntrol Serum- will aslo do the trick....

The weekend b4 last I mixed 2 conditoners & oil: Garlic Conditioner, MNT Deep Conditioner, and Coconut oil(leave on for at leat 30 min./wash out).....Sounds like a bit much, but my hair is still soft....Even after several rinses...
MNT- for strength
Garlic Con.- For shedding(preventive measures)
Coconut Oil- moisture balance

For a great results- use a clarifying shampoo 1st!

i take the iron and zinc about 2x a week 18 mg of iron and 50mg of zinc only because it cause constipation and I already have issues.

I have "issues" with constipation too.

I scurred!

Off to by iron pills.:perplexed *mumbles* Tired of all these damn vitamins....

I'm still shedding a lot. I didn't even want to perm my hair again but I noticed that the texture of my new growth has changed. It's now curlier and coarser. I did a touch up just to lighten up the new growth (the two textures was causing some breakage) and a deep conditioning with ORS hair mayo. I'm not shedding as much as a few weeks ago but I think the shedding really has to do with that change of texture of my hair.
I'm not using any new products, just the same things I was using all the time. I stop using the garlic shampoo after the second use because I didn't see any improvement and I didn't like how dry it left my hair.
I'm sure this shedding is going to stop so I'm not worried about it. My hair did grow a lil extra too. It's kinda crazy. It's like I don't know my hair anymore. I'll just have to wait this out.

That's how I feel. I am though going to get an iron supplement. I wish you the best hun!:)

Mine is doing better. The only thing that I've done differently is used Porosity Control. I also ordered Alter Ego Revitaliaing Lotion but have not recieved it yet.

My shedding continues but it's decreased. I've just institued a no combing practice. Well it's kind of low combing, but I've been wearing it back in a pony for a couple of weeks, so I'm not sure if that's helping.
