Shedding 150 hairs a day consistently

The derm told me more than 100 not normal. I am taking my iron since I am super low on ferritin iron (something I discovered after seeing the derm regarding the hair loss from the bleach incident, but never had shedding before) wonder if this shed is due to the stress from the bleach incident. I read that trauma can cause a person to shed 3 month after the fact. And while it is not as though I lost a loved one, I did stress about the hair loss, cry, anger, sadness it was insane and my body went into shock. So am wondering if that or something else is the casue of this hair loss. I was massaging the MN in my hair but stopped that due to major headaches, I assume that can't cause hair to come out nor the essential oils I massage into my head....any ideas welcome. My blood tests minus the feritin did come out fine so no androgenetic (hormonally caused) hair loss either (unless of course my hormones have fluctuated since then, who knows, the disaster caused stuff to happen to my body) I know some say 150 is okay but over the long run that is 33% more shed than norm giving you a thinner head of hair over time. And I do eat okay.

What was the bleach incident?
Ok, I searched and found your thread on the salon experience. I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you.

That experience is a very stressful one for anyone and stress can certainly contribute to hair loss. I strongly suggest meditation every morning to start your day, to bring down all stress levels. This could be simply focusing on your breath going in and out while sitting quietly for 5 minutes. If you are not taking a B vitamin complex, now is a good time to start. This will help relieve stress also, besides being good for your hair.

IMO, the focus needs to be on restoring the health of your hair more than finding something to speed up the growth (such as the MN). Since the low iron levels has been taken care of and as you work on the stress aspect, you may want to see someone who specializes in restoring damaged hair. One of the ladies here may know of someone in your area or may have experienced this also and can be of great help.

The important thing is to know this can be turned around and you certainly can get your beautiful waist-length mane back. :)

Isis sorry my reply is so late. I have been dealing with a lot and did not realize i even had a response on this thread. Anyway, I dont know that anything can be done to restore my hair other than not going to any salons ever again, no heat no chemicals. I was not even using heat and chemicals befoer. anyway, i do take my iron but now losing 200-300 hairs a day which i was not before. Wonder if it is due to post traumatic stress from the bleach incident. wish it would stop.

Awww Vicki, I'm so sorry. :(

It's a vicious cycle...you lose hair, stress about it, that causes more hair loss, then more stress.

You need to find a way to cut back on your stress levels, like exercise or as Isis suggested, meditation. I've been stressing about hair loss as well, and these two things are the only reason my head has not exploded.

You say you're back on iron, and eating right...are you taking any multi-vitamins or supplements?
If not, start doing so immediately. Many ladies on this board have had success with Bargello's regiment.

And deep condition like it's going out of style! That will also help strenghten the hair and bring it back from the bleach fiasco.

I know you're babying your hair as much as possible right now...just have faith and everything will be alright.

I tried to post earlier but my computer completely froze up on me. I am so sorry you are going through all of this. Don't know if you've tried any of the protein treatments but Nexxus Emergencee helped my shedding even though its supposed to be used for breakage. It seemed like a temporary fix though because the shedding kick back in week later but it wasn't AS BAD. I keep hearing about Garlic Shampoos and Conditioners. I couldn't find any so I bought some garlic oil FINALLY and I'm going to do a preshampoo treatment that will consist of garlic oil, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil and Avalon peppermint conditioner for stimulation. Hopefully, it works. Either way, I will post a thread here to let everyone know.

Keep your head up.

Thank you guys for your responses i will try to take your advice and hope for the best. I appreciate you all.I really wish i never read about the Neo AF dont even know how it all started about it working and all but wish I had not jumped on the bandwagon. feel so stupid figures i would be senstive to this and not like there are studies on it. I think some people mentioned supplements that helped their shedding and i already taken stuff. I will look into adding the things you guys mentined though to see if it helps. What is the garlic stuff suppose to do? THank you again.

The garlic has something in it that is supposed to help stop shedding...I've tried garlic shampoos and they didn't work for me :(, but everyone is different.

I tried using the MN as well...I stopped, my head just did not feel right for some reason.

Just from hearing how damaged your hair is, I say work on getting your hair healthy from the inside out, and skip the topical growth stuff and essential oils for now. Good luck, and I know the other ladies out there have additional advice for you.
