hey ladies,

ANY ONE KNOW how do you tell if a company is really honoring FAIRTRADE guidelines i purchasing shea???

The last company I went with sent me this
Dear ________

Thank you for your inquiry. We do not have a certification for fair trade, however we do follow within the Fair Trade guidelines.

Best regards

ummmmmm, uh-kay:ohwell:

hmmmmm, a customer asked me for my Fair Trade certificate and I was like :look:, yest let me get back to you asap...^ and my vendor sent me this^^..

anyone know the guidelines, if any to ensure a vendor REALLY IS a fairtrade distributor?

thanks again

god bless

well...basically because it says FAIR TRADE on it. if it doesnt say it, its not. there's usually a logo on the site or bottle of product that's fair trade.

now if it says fair trade on it and you arent sure if you still believe them...girl i dont know what to tell ya lol!

no bottle.... bulk ordering

I only wanted to ensure that the companies I'm dealing with are truthful other than negative filings with the BBB

but yep yep... NO BOTTLES, only large disposable packaging on ALL of the bulk orders w/ companies I've ordered from including butter-n-bars, coastal scent, chemistry____ (can never remember the name), amazon

for instance on amazon tons of them CLAIM fairtrade.... but heck I sell on amazon and nobody verified anything with me:ohwell:

however-- I thought shoot if I created these labels... so did they:rolleyes:, someone brought up an excellent point, certificate posting on sites... so far can't find a one:nono:

I'll keep looking & shoot out a few bitness emails (yep i said it, bitness) and have it check out...

whatever then. if they dont have fair trade certification then its not fair trade!!!! it they did it would be splashed all over their website TRUST me.

yeah it is "WORDED" all over the website... that for me wasn't proof

but I'll keep researching until I find the standard guidelines (this just came up today)

let me know ladies if someone knows any different!

thanks again

girl that was my entire point!!!

and it was the company that I heard recommended MOST all over this board so I don't want to throw a name until I find out....

But that was my point, I was asking for ways to verify their CLAIM
Maybe monday I'll send out a few emails to check on this

just following the guidline doesnt mean your fair trade certified.

if its anything like enviro labelling example for hotels being green globe or blue flag certified, there is a definite process of certification along with requirements which have to be met for renewal

I'm sure if u google it there must be something on the certfication and maybe even a listing:yep:
