Check out what my cosmetology student neighbor did to my hair!! The first pic is the curls she did, and the second is how my forehead looks tonight, lol. I am soo not looking forward to leaving the house in the morning!! Oh, and she is white...I should have known better!! She recommended Chi Silk Infusion to me so I figured she knew a little something. Shame on me!!

Aww. Sorry this happened. :( Do you think you could cover it with bangs or make up?

Oh my goodness! That looks painful. :( However, your hair looks great! Your hair in its natural state is also very pretty. I hope that you are at least satisfied with your results. I also hope the burn heals quickly.

I thought about it, but right now it hurts to even touch it and I think hair or makeup will burn even more and irritate it. I may have to just suck it up, it looks a lot smaller in the pic, but it is VERY noticeable.

This happened to me once. Did you already remove the skin that covered the burn? When I was burned, there was a dark patch of skin covering the white flesh would. If you didn't remove it, it may develop.

My advice would be to leave that on until the area stops hurting. You don't want to expose that area to any hair product chemicals or airbore particles while it's still fresh. Then gently remove off the injured skin and apply aloe vera or neopsorim to the area, 2x a day. You just have to let it heal on its own, sadly. I wore side swept bangs when this happened to me so it would cover it (no need to cut hair for this) - if you decide to do bangs, make sure you give your hair enough volume so it's not sitting on the sore.

And just as warning, my burn didn't leave a scar but it left a small dent in my forehead.

Im sorry this happened to you.

..............OUCH!!:(

Ouchie  The curls look really nice.

But errah, what does her being white have to do with it? I've been burned many more times by black stylist - on the forehead, ears and the killa area, my neck.

Sorry girl.

What usually helps my burns (yes, plural- I can be accident prone :( ) is to rub Neosporin-Pain on the burn and do not cover it- let it breathe. It might start to look worse before it looks better. You'll know it's healing when the scab comes off although it might be white or lighter than the rest of your skin. Don't even let the burn become dry or itchy and of course don't scratch it. Dabbing some concealer on it after a few days helped cover mine w/o irritating it since it was hypo-allergenic.

If all else fails try mederma but start treating it right now. HTH :)

Sorry this happened to you. Someone did this to me once while talking on the phone and styling my hair.

Keep it moisturized with neosporin and soon as it doesn't hurt anymore, put some shea butter and bleaching cream on it so it doesnt leave a dark scar.

My sentiments exactly. On the plus your hair looks gorgeous! Just be sure to put some aloe vera gel on it so it heals up nicely

....Oh my......I'm sorry this happened to you! That is one bad thing about going to the cosmetology students....there are more risks for injuries! I use to go to them all the time when I was living in my home state (OH) and I believe they burned some ears, necks, etc. This is nasty one though. As many of the ladies already suggested, if you use some aloe vera on the sore it will heal nicely and feel better. Your hair looks fabulous!

I agree. Other than the burn she appears to have done a wonderful job with your hair:) I would not have otherwise known it was done by a white woman.

I've learned my lesson about going to *any* hairdresser. I've had white and black mess up my hair. I remember some years ago this one cosmetology student kept burning my scalp with a flat iron. When she revealed to me halfway through that she and another student sometimes went on the roof to smoke weed, that explained everything (coming in 20 min late, hairstyle from 5 years ago, dyed hair didn't match her complexion, burning my scalp with the flat iron). For your burn I would put cocoa butter on it. Your hair still looks nice.

Since she's your neighbor...expecially since she's your neighbor...let her know what happened and show her the burn and let her kow how youthink it could have been avoided...you may help to make her an even better hairdresser.

Your hair is lovely and the burn does not take away from your loveliness.

Ouchie...neosporin and aloe vera gel, hopefully that will keep it from becoming a dark mark. :(

Your hair looks wonderful...but please, don't let her do it again.

wow that look like it hurt may be you can use some A&D OINTMENT AND AFTHER it heal some coco butter to keep it from getting dark:(

I have been putting Neosporin on the burn, and I have some mederma and cocoa butter for when it heals a little more. I know my neighbor feels really bad about it, she keeps apologizing, I can't stay mad at her. Plus she gets a nice discount on hair products at the beauty supply store since she is a cosmetology student. She promised to take me Friday and I am going to stock up..can't wait. Thanks for all the advice ladies!!

I had a burn on the fleshy part of my cheek, the top of my bosom and my bicep. The first 2 healed with aloe vera from the plant directly. The one on the bicep didn't get enough attention. Also try to keep the burn out of the sun when the scab comes off.

Awww, I'm sorry this happened to you. At least it was an accident, and she apologized for it. Unlike beautician on Judge Hatchett that claimed that the burn on some little girls neck was just from dirt being lifted off of her skin!

BTW, do you still have a fotki? I remember you had a fotki under the name honeyjamz. If you still have it, could you post the link? I love your hair!

I don't know... every time I've had my hair done (relaxer) by a white girl or gay man I've been burned or not had a very good hairstyle... maybe it's just me, though.
