Hi :-p
I'm currently about 3 inches past sl and hope to reach apl by December/January. My long term goal is bsl and i probably wont be there until this time (October) next year. My main reason for wanting to grow my hair is to prove to myself that MY hair can grow longer than sl. From the progress pictures ive seen here, I am confident that I too can have long hair.

On of the things I'm looking forward to with long hair is being weave checked by random strangers...lol

For those of you who have experienced being weave checked, please share your best/funniest/craziest weave check story here
:yep:

OK, I'll bite. :)

I was at a Que party with my friend....she has MBL type 3b/c hair that shrinks up to maybe SL when curly. That day, I had a regular WNG....mine are only NL. We're standing in line waiting to get in, you know...just talking and making fun of the hoodrats around us plotting on the bruhz. :look: Next thing I know, there's a hand all in my hair -- so I look up and see this dark, handsome, delicious specimen of a man. He was ALMOST cute enough to make me not wanna slap him  I hear him say "I love your hair. It's so....LUSH!" Next, the cute yet foreign hand goes to my scalp, and once he doesn't feel any tracks, the smile on his face grows bigger. At this point, I had to stop myself and ask him what the hell he was doing. He removes his hand from my hair and tries to strike up a conversation before one of his bruhz calls him away...interesting situation, to say the least. I think the reason I didn't react sooner was because it took me a minute to realize what was going on, I was half happy because it had never happened and I assumed it meant my hair looked too good to be real, I was half upset because I felt assaulted, I was confused because he checked me and not my friend....just so many emotions.

After that I got weave checked a few times by my cousins....every time I straighten my hair, which is about every 3 months, in fact. I guess they can't believe it's really growing, like I told them it would when I cut it off in 2008. Those stories aren't too spectacular...random ambushes, yanking of my side braided ponytail, approaching me from behind so I couldn't see the nails going for my head...the stereotypical unwanted attention.

Nothing that funny or interesting to report yet. I've had a few people ask me if my hair is real and I get long stares from women trying to find tracks lol and I haven't even got much length to speak of yet!

I had some girl yanking on my puff last weekend. 2 friends of mine had been ooing and ahhring over how long my hair had gotten (my hair is not that long at all, just longer to them since bc'ing I guess) .... the other girl didn't say anything. 5 minutes later she's is just standing there behind me, yanking my puff, pretending like she was fluffing it out :sekret:. But the way she was pulling, I'm pretty sure she thought it was a phony pony that would drop off.

:lachen: LOL, people are ruthless. I mean, if she'd had the phony pony pop off in her hand ... then what?? Really .

I keep getting weave checked by.......my dad of all people! lol. I put my hair up in a side bun, ( I was on a 3day old wng) and he says, "I like your hair like that, much better than the fake buns" I'm like....WTF are you talking about? I've been living in a house with you for 20 years and you still accuse me of wearing store bought hair? And every time I flatiron he makes a point to ask if it's weave. I just think he's getting old lol.

:look: I love these stories, I cannot wait until my hair is long enough to be 'questionable' by ignorant people!
