Shampoos and Retouching

I have not had a relaxer in a long time and I'll be relaxing soon. I shampoo my hair every week. How long should I wait to relax after I shampoo?

Around 3 days (or 72 hours) usually works for me. I have, however, done it after 48 hours w/out any adverse effects.
