hey yall im reading this book and dont get me wrong there ARE some really good points in this book but im reading this book and hes saying that nexxus is the only product that workds when it comes to fixing damaged hair and hes tried everything else and nothing else works.. i find that bs so hard to believe.. if that was the case.. all of us would be bald.... like i dont like books like this cause its not based on the reality of things and truth.. its based on what one person thinks the truth is and sometimes it may not be true.. and he holds on to what he belives real tight you can tell by the way things are worded in this book. my mother always say eat the meat and spit out the bone and thats what im doing with this book.. im taking wat i think to be beneficial to me and leaving all the other crap cause all hes saying is not soemthing that should be set in stone..

also i think he had some sort of deal with nexxus.. i dunno maybe they helped him pay for the cost of publishign this book in return for some good advertisment.... cuase he talk about them too much.... they aint the only good thing out here.

i couldn't finish that book.

the constant mentioning of nexxus...and no lye vs lye relaxers got on my nerves..

omg i just catn stop ...

he says... once u chemically relax ur hair eerything from this point must change.. u can never stop relaxing ur hair or it will break and fall out... ... now how many girls on here transistioned to a decent length without having their hair breakand fall off...

I read paula beugeon books, DON'T GO SHOPPING FOR HAIR PRODUCTS WITHOUT ME and she said Nexxus has one of the worst reconstructors. Unfortunately, nothing can repair damaged hair, protein based products can only fill in damaged areas, and gives the temporary feel of healthier hair, that is whyu we have to keep using them to help keep the hairstrong, because it washes out after a week or two anyway.

I read his book when it first came out and before I knew about the boards.

The book sucked. The only thing I took away from that book that was a benefit was the lye relaxer.

And Nexxus Suxxus!!!!!!!

to be honest the book wasnt nothing that special . i mean i might try the whole thing about using a shampoo the removes calcium deposits and wat not he might have a point about that.. but in my experience no lye relaxers has done nothing to myhair negatively... my hair growed to bra strap a few years ago.. and all i did was go get a wash and set every two weeks...so if my hair grew just doing that... i mean i doubt no lye relaxers are that bad... but imma give this thing a try and use a chelating shampoo and something with ceramides and see how my hair reacts... just outta curiosity

I bought this book on my 18th birthday and I have never looked at it again since then lol... hot mess. Even when I had a relaxer I didn't rely on the info given.

I don't think he's biased. Nexxus probably paid him to say those things. I read his book when I was relaxed and it had some good info but the books is by no means a holy grail. But there is much more (and better) information here on this board. It was a good start before I found this board but now I wouldn't even bother with it for several reasons. Some of thep products I tried and didn't like (like the Dudley's Creme Press) but I stuck with the Humectress. The book wasn't meant to be a be all end all. It was just to serve as a guide. So you have to take what you want from it. Just do what is best for you.

The book is okay. There are good points and bad points. To his defense, a friend of mine use to go to his salon to have her hair done and it thrived and grew long and strong. I guess she could have done it with another regimen but she didnt' have one and his worked. The nexxus thing was a bit much, i don't care for their product line. Due to his experience in using it, maybe he felt that is what guaranteed results. Like I mentioned earlier, my girls hair was crazy after going to him. It grew longher and stronger than I had ever seen her hair before. You can pull what you need from it and leave whatever else you don't.

I actaully enjoy his book and I'm natural. And he's not biased, Shamboosie is a very smart business man. Nexxus paid him a small fortune to promote their products. But he does know how to handle and make relaxed hair thrive. And like Paula Begoun states...it's 25% product usage and 75% hair care practices that gives one healthy hair.

His book helped me start my journey to healthy hair. I learned a lot from him. He does talk about using Nexxus products all the time, but I guess that is what he has a lot of success with. I certainly has helped me.

He had some great points, but he damaged his credibility with me by pushing the Nexxus products so hard. It was obvious that he either had a deal iwth Nexxusss, or that he didn't have a very good knowleldge of the breadth of wonderful hair products.
