Sew in weaves for thick haired ladies

About 3 years ago, I got a sew in weave. Because my hair is so thick, the braids were bulky and the weave really did not lay that flat. However, my hair did great underneath the weave.

I want to get a weave in December. When I mentioned this to my stylist, she says that weaving my hair is a challenge because of the thickness.

Any suggestions to flatten the bulky cornrows so that the weave can lay flat?

She could always give you more cornrows which would make them smaller.
