Awesome, thank you! I'm leaning towards LCL partially due to the price of Pibbs. For LCL, is the hood able to accomodate larger rollers comfortably or is it a tight fit?

It's a comfortable fit for all rollers I've ever used.
Let's see....2 inch Magnetic Rollers, 2 to 2/2 inch french rollers, perm rods, flexi rods, large hour glass rollers...etc.
I've never attempted curlformers so I cant speak on those.

I'm joining this. I'm hoping to increase my setting frequency to twice a week. I know it's a lot but I work out so much that my hair really doesn't hold up for an entire week. Once a week is usually my sweet spot though. My favorite rollers right now are the french bouffants. But honestly I also use the hourglass and magnetics as well. My head is usually a mix of all 3

Just setting at the moment. I love the way my hair feels once I've finished a set. Rollersetting = really manageable hair for the whole week.
Tomorrow evening I will use sleep in rollers to try and maintain the curl. Then satin rollers on Wednesday.

I replaced my LCL dryer. I don't remember the price being $149, but it was 10 years ago when I purchased the last one so.... The hood still works on the old one so I'm going to see if my hubby can attach it to a sturdy chair so I can have a mock salon dryer chair.
The new one should be here next week..just in time for me to wash & set next weekend.

I wore my last set for 15 days. It was time to clean my scalp.:
Pre-treatment:
Ayurvedic Treatment mixed with Herbal Tea.
Cleansed:
Curl Junkie Daily Fix diluted with Herbal Tea.
DC'd:
Curl Junkie Curl Rehab with Shea Oil on ends. *Didnt rinse & used treatment as a leave in*
Set with Distilled water in a spray bottle.

Tried another curlformer set this past weekend. Unfortunately the day I took them out it was raining so it got super frizzy and poofy. I guess I'll check the weather before doing a set, lol.

If there’s a way to avoid breakage, I’d love a set of wave and curlformers.

Yes I have a few tips:
1. Be sure to have clean parts when installing. I part with my fingers, but I make sure there are no loose hairs in the hook when pulling the hair into the curlformer, otherwise there will be snagging. If you feel any discomfort while pulling your hair into the curlformer, stop immediately and start over. That discomfort is your hair snagging and causing breakage.
2. Small sections. Try not to make the sections bigger than the width of the curlformer. If the section is too big, it won't fit into the hook properly, leading to loose hairs that can be yanked, etc.
3. If your hair is longer and the ends hang out of the curlformers, be sure to put a perm rod or some kind of small roller on the end. If you just leave it out, it can curl onto the end of the curlformer and get yanked when you remove the curlformer later. (Found out the hard way) Now I make sure to roll any loose ends on a roller.

Current hair length: SL
Relaxed/Natural/Texlaxed/Loc'd: Natural
Current Setting method and styling choices: I use perm rods either doing twist n'curls or braid n'curls. I'm ready to try a full on perm rod set next. No more than twice a month, I'll use my set to stretch my hair for flatironing and wearing it straight.
Current Setting products: (Right now) Carol's Daughters Green Supreme shampoo, condish and leave-in spray, Lotta Body C&S foam mousse, Cantu Anti-frizz oil
How long have you been setting? I'm just starting to really get into it! I'm enjoying my results so far!
Thing(s) you would like to work on/are hoping to achieve: I want to include rollersetting into my regular regimen. It seems to be the best way to keep my hair stretched without my ends knotting up. It also helps me lose less hair when detangling.
My goal is to get to APL by July and BSL by December 2019.
How often do you plan to set?: Weekly

That set didn't make it overnight LOL!!! But I wore it for the next 3 days (pic was taken Monday)
I did my first real perm rod set last night, and I love it!! It took me a little over 1.5 hours to detangle (CD condish), shampoo (Chi), and set (CD leave-in spray, Chi Silk, Lottabody foam). I used orange perm rods, and I'm thinking of getting a size larger.
Now I have to get it to last overnight and I'd be a very happy camper!!

In hopes of getting day 2 out of my set, I slept with it loose without a bonnet. I barely have second day hair LOL!!! It frizzed a lot and the curls got squished 
. I put very little product in my hair so that I could flatiron it. I might add some heat protectant and do that tonight .
Any tips for keeping a roller/perm rod set on short hair from falling overnight??

I've been really obsessed with boucy mid to high ponytails after setting, so I'm gonna throw in a few purple flexi rods on just the ponytail hair.

I got about 5 days out of my hair, and really it was me wearing up for days 3-5. I washed my hair and noticed less hair came out overall, but I had a lot of longish broken hairs. That I did not like. I'm pretty sure it was from using my wet brush. I did a wash n'go just to try out the products I got for my birthday, but I'll go back to doing another set. I'll probably do another twist n'curl. I feel like that holds up better.

I picked up some broccoli seed oil, marula oil and some oat oil. I heard the first 2 were very slippery and the broccoli seed oil resembles a silicone. I've never heard of oat oil, but I love oat anything as its very smoothing and softening on my hair. I'll be trying to come up with a slippery, smoothing, hydrating but light weight leave in for roller setting that can allow my sets to dry quickly. I'll probably wash and set next weekend so I'll be sure to post pictures of me trailing the DIY RollerSetting Leave in.

For anyone who has had successful results with curlformers on type 4 hair, would you recommend using a gel with a moisturizer, or a setting lotion with a moisturizer to do your set? Or would you use other products entirely?

I would use only a leave in or a diluted leave in and make sure your hair is wet before applying each curlformer. Anything heavy could double your drying time. Curlformer sets dont usually last so be prepared to put your hair on perm rods, rollers or something else to hold the curl. You can add a light gel at this step if you want.

I've tried both with curlformers and I liked the set with gel much better than the set w/ setting lotion.

Would you say it was more stretched than the setting lotion set? What was it that you liked more about it?
Also, @faithVA , I plan on using them so that I can get my hair stretched to braid it up. Would you say culformers stretch your hair comparably to using heat? Thank you guys!
