Seriously about to give up on complex regimines!

When my hair was relaxed my regimine was sooo simple. And my hair grew to waist length with no problem at all! I washed, conditioned, and blowdried everyday (I know, I know...the HORROR of daily heat use! ) But hey it worked! Oh and more shock for you...I used a CLARIFYING shampoo everyday. And I wasn't gentle when I brushed! HORRORS!!!!!!

Now, I'm not saying I'm going to start using heat every day and washing every day but I'm about to just start washing and conditioning every other day. Here's what I'm going to do:

Every other day
1)Shampoo with a gentle, moisturizing shampoo
2)Condition with a moisturizing conditioner
3)Apply leave in moisturizer
4)Smooth my hair back into a ponytail with some gel

I will deep condition and press my hair out once a month for a style change and also to mark progress. I will get my hair trimmed at the salon every 3 months.

I know it's a lot of typing so it seems like a lot but if you think about it it's really simple. Just washing and conditioning. We shall see what happens!

I hear you. I gave up on the complicated regimens a while ago. I just co-wash every day, use a moisturizer and put it back in a loose ponytail or bun. End of story. Happy hair growing!

i know what you mean bout simple regimines... lol I guess mines is sort of simple. simple works best 4 me cuz its less maniplulation.

you know what, you ARE SO RIGHT!!

I was just mentioning this in another thread I was replying to but, I don't feel my hair has really progressed in the month or two so far without heat. Yes,I have more curl definition but I don't see any growth. I would like to believe its because I am natural I cannot see the progress.

ITA! I don't think any of the stuff I could do to my head externally can really help growth, only retention. Growth comes from being healthy inside.

Even before the boards my regimen has been to:
-Shampoo and Condition 2-3x per week (I now deep condition more; read: add plastic cap lol)
-Add my leave-in and roller-set/air-dry
-Add a little oil once in awhile

With braids it's even simpler... I think my hair does better this way, and it's much easier for me to remember, and be consistent.

I DO think, however, that staying away from heat makes a huge difference... in retention of length.

Word.
All these complicated regimes are just too much for me. I do not like to waste time on my hair- that's why I wore braides for so long!!
Now, I just wash in the shower, comb through conditioner leave it in while finishing the shower rinse out, put in ponytail before I even get out of the shower!
I'm trying to do hot oil in the shower every week, but so far I've done it once.
Less manipulation is good for my hair, so I'm sticking with the "no-routine".

Yeah, Im not with them, I tried it for a little while ago, and it just made me a PJ and didnt make a WHOLE bunch of difference, I happen to be a pretty lucky person who has some strong hair because my hair did fine, washing and DC once a week, protien treatments 2ce a month and bowdrying and flatironing/curling once a week.

One thing I have added is Leave In's I didnt do those before... Plus My hair just doesnt look good without some type of heat usage

All a complex regimen did for me was empty out my wallet. I was always hopping on bandwagons. For the past year I've just been co washing daily (leaving some in)...using an oil afterwards..and doing an acv rinse once a month. When it comes to regimens...simplicity really is bliss...

Good luck with your new routine.

The closest I've come to a complicated regime was vitamins, but I got tired of that pretty quickly. For the most part, I've kept my hair care pretty simple: wash when I feel like it (typically 1-4 times a week), style however the mood strikes and as time permits, and a moisturizing deep conditioner whenever. I don't stick to any one or two brands from wash to wash, either, just use whatever I feel my hair needs at that time. In all, I'm pleased to say that I have no complaints about my hair.

Don't feel bad just keep it simple! That's all I do. So whenever I join a challenge I never post a regimen because I don't have one, and don't need one. I do what feels best for my hair either on a daily basis or whenever I feel it's needed.
