Friday: Nothing, but finishing freezing my aloe, henna tea, and marshmallow root tea.

Saturday: I will be trial my marshmallow root tea without and with pumpkin seed oil to see how well the tea detangles. I need a replacement for the Jamaican M&L Transition Creme. Sealing with chlorella emu oil.

Sunday: Checking moisture levels. Aloe on the nape.

First time trial of more streamlined wash day:
  1. Pure O.N.E African Black Soap Prepoo Mud Mask (to prepoo, detox, strengthen, condition)
  2. Organic rice water rinse (to silken, further strengthen)
  3. Twists: Jakeala Shea Amla Parfait under EarthTones Naturals Gelly (a host of ayurvedic ingredients; sealing; hold)
  4. Wear twist out

I took out my two French braids like 5 days ago for a wash and nothing. Not done anything to my hair for like 10days.

I need to prepoo with my oil/butter mix then deep condition with egg+conditioner and just wash and ACV rinse this hair but I've been thoroughly unmotivated.

This rough pony needs to go so hoping to do alladat this weekend #sigh

Tonight:

Overnight oiling: mahabhringraj oil on scalp and some of my infused fenugreek oil on the length.

Tomorrow:

ACV scalp rinse

Herbal hairwash: A mix of powders

Tea rinse: guava leaf (first time)

DC: A homemade mix

Leave in with rose water avj and guava leaf if my hair liked the rinse

Rollerset. I must. It is time.

Update:

Decided to prepoo with just the mahabrhingraj oil for 3 reasons:
1. Laziness
2. I accidentally squirted waay too much onto my scalp
3 (bonus) I get to see how it perfoms on its own :yep:

Decided to use my black soap shampoo after the powder mainly on the scalp because my scalp is finiky and doesnt tolerate pre-poo residue. And yall I dont know if the mild exfoliation or the penetration of the indian powders but I feel the tingle of my EOs soo mch more its awesome :burn:

Currently sitting with guava leaf tea alone to assess the conditioning qualities.

Friday- nothing
Saturday- cowash, dc, and redo my braids
OR
take braids out, cowash, dc, and wear my hair curly. Wash and go season is upon us. I braided my hair so I could wig it, but I'm over it.

I pre-pooed overnight with my oil concoction, washed my hair with Peppermint Castille Soap and One & Only Shampoo, and I have had Silicon Mix and Black Castor Oil on my head all day. Finally going to wash it out. I still haven't decided what I'm going to do after that. :drunk:

Update:

The Pure O.N.E. African Black Soap Prepoo Mud Mask is a winner! :clapping: I applied it at the sink, detangled with it, and left it in for a little longer than 15 minutes. it soothed my scalp. I rinsed it out in the shower and hair felt luxurious (a handful of the 17 website reviews said it was drying, but I didn't have that experience). I saturated my naked hair with the organic rice water, did my other shower-related tasks, rinsed out the organic rice water, and at the sink started the moisturize, seal, and style process.

I was purposely trying to shave off time with this combination of products and these techniques. I entered the shower just once with this process!!! I am sure that my hair would benefit more were I to keep the organic rice water in longer. However, for the trade-off in time and number of times entering/exiting/re-entering the shower, I'll take it!

The only thing I would change is to reintroduce the Cantu ACV Rinse (or some kind of tingly, liquid scalp treatment): The prepoo is super thick and it took a little work to apply to the scalp.

Now I need to determine :scratchchin: How often do I need to do a moisturizing DC and a proper protein treatment if I'm using the prepoo mask and the organic rice water each wash day? This is going to take trial and error and note-taking. :yep:

Side view is a winner! Is that a twist-out? You got great definition!
Remember I told you I want to do a twist out me too? I then remembered that I have a twa and I can't :lachen:

Congratulations on your big chop!!!

Thanks, chica. Yes, this is a twist out using Jakeala Shea Amla Parfait under EarthTones Naturals Gelly. (I'm in love with these two products!)

Oh no, not all of my hair. Just about 1/4 of it. Plz have a look at my twa album here
https://longhaircareforum.com/media/albums/twa.10569/

But this twa is still too short to be twisted :(

What do you like most about the 2 new products?

Regarding the Jakeala Shea Amla Parfait:
  • It is CHOCK full of super healthful, retention-causing ingredients.

Ingredients: Raw Shea Butter, Ayurvedic Powders (Amla, Brahmi, Bringaraj, Fenugreek), Neem Oil, Aloe Vera, Calendula extract, Chamomile, Hemp Seed Oil, Castor Oil, Honey(Optional for vegans), Optiphen (Paraben Free Preservative includes Phenoxyethanol & Sorbic Acid).

  • Chicoro has me CONVINCED that Shea butter usage is a common factor in attainment of very long hair . . . and the first ingredient is shea butter.
  • It's so whipped that it's light and fluffy and airy and sinks right into the hair. It gives my hair sheen and definition and moisture/sealing.
  • The scent: I do not like the scent of shea butter, but the Jakeala mixtress allows you to order this parfait in a scent. The best scent I have ever, ever smelled in a hair product is Jakeala's cowash bar that smells peachy and creamy and vanilla-y and nectarine-y and apricot-y and honey-y or whatever. I asked her if I could get the parfait in that scent, and she said "Just add it in the comments to your order.":thud:
Regarding the EarthTones Naturals Gelly:
  • The ingredients:
    • Aloe vera juice to moisturize the hair.
    • Sodium PCA, a very powerful humectant that holds several times its weight in water and helps prevent moisture loss.
    • Glycerin a powerful humectant that attracts moisture to the hair and helps prevent water loss.
    • Bamboo extract contains silica which gives smoothness to the hair, enhances shine and strengthens hair
    • Sea kelp extract has a high content of silicon, vitamins and minerals that help nourish the hair, especially the root.
    • Hydrolyzed silk protein to penetrate the hair and act as a humectant.
    • Panthenol to increase moisture and add shine to the hair.
  • The way it applies, due to its consistency: The consistency is snot. That's perfect. I apply it at the root and ends, then squeeze it down the strand from the roots. It is very easy for me to tell whether I have enough gel, and it is very easy for me to avoid using too little gel.
  • The performance: I get hold and shine and moisture and ZERO flaking. Of course, if I apply too much butter or leave-in underneath I don't get gel flaking but instead get crusted product in the hair. But that's hard to do. I just tend to be heavy handed with the Jakeala Shea Amla Parfait.
  • Its friendliness: It plays well with the shea parfait.

It sounds like you found your perfect regimen at last!! How exciting that must feel! You can use the Parfait to both moisturize and seal your hair in one step?

How does the gel compare to Wetline Xtreme (My HG) regarding definition, hold, softness, and shine? And does it have a crunch that needs to be SOTCed?

Thanks for asking.

The shea butter has a sealing effect on my hair. Because I apply it to wet/damp hair, the water is the moisture and the shea butter is the sealant. Other ingredients in the parfait may be adding some additional moisture, though, beyond the water that is in my hair. I'm not sure. I'll have to pay attention over time/usage.

Regarding the gel:
No crunch to scrunch out.

Wetline gives my hair a dusty, dry look. Almost gray or grayed-out or something. It does have great hold on my hair, though.
On the other hand, the EarthTones Naturals Gellly is giving me hold and shine and blacker-looking hair (my hair will never look black, though).

At @Alma Petra, here is a large, close-up look of my hair with this product combo: https://longhaircareforum.com/media/wp_20170909_013.129395/

I actually did this Thur/Fri, but I've been extra busy. Decided to incorporate acv for my itchy scalp and every time I use it I wonder why I'm not using it all the time.

Scalp Rx: sallys pre cleanse scalp treatment
Shampoo: African black soap melted in diluted green tea
Scalp rinse: green tea and acv
Conditioner: affirm 5 in 1 reconstructor and aphogee balancing moisturizer on my braids
Leave ins: xcel 21 and curlyproverbs oil on my scalp. SM hold and shine and curling souffle on my braids

I've also been applying the curlyproverbs oil once a day.
