What's the difference between the two?? I went to a beauty supply store and one of the women said it's the same thing when I asked...but is it really?? I want to try a new color in august when I get a touch-up, but I need to know if to get semi-permanent or a rinse...can someone please enlighten me on what the difference is??

lsubabiedee=no color expert but i think that a rinse is a type of semi-permanent color....they last about the same depending on color/brand...but im not sure if any rinses have peroxide or ammonia in them but i know some semi-perms do

Thanks so much for answering lsubabiedee!!!

Any other additional info ladies??? :)

A semi permanent hair color is similar to a rinse, however, you can add heat to your semi permanent (10 mins under a hooded dryer) and it will last slightly longer than a rinse. But in essence, they are basically the same, I think.

I'm no color expert either but I think a Rinse is nothing more than a conditioner with dye in it. It is free of harmful agents of peroxide, amonium and, alcohol. semi, on the other hand...can possibly contain one or all of the 3 above ingredients. I'd say check the ingredients and make sure none of the 3 above are listed...and i would consider it safe. I had a cinnamon rinse in my hair and it lasted and slowly faded for 2.5months....

A rinse is gone after 1-2 shampoos, whereas a semi-permanent color is (or should be) gone after 6-8 shampoos. However, if a semi-perm color is applied to pre-lightened hair, it can act as a permanent color.
