Self Roller Set Question

Think Slim
Hi all,

I have been doing my own roller set for a few years now, as a result of moving from Manhattan.

I'm pretty good now with getting all of the hair caught up and the rollers don't fall out, but I can never seem to get them tight enough.

I'm trying to figure out how to get them just tight enough that I can blow only my roots and leave the ends nice and silky.

Anyone have any pearls of wisdom that they can share?

what type of clips are you using? I find that using the all purpose metal clips work for me. The tuck all the way into the roller so that no part of the clip is hanging out and I can get them tighter.

Thank for the quick reply,

I'm using the metal clips. I think that part of my problem is that I have A LOT of hair and now that I'm pregnant it's even thicker.

Don't laugh, I have even looked for photographs or instructions, because I feel like there is some simple solution.

CaramelHonee, You are the queen!

Your diagram didn't show up, but I get the idea. When I come to NYC to visit my mom or get my touch up I have to take out to lunch

In addition to your helpful info, I also found some cool documents that come from from a barber/styling school. The docs are super technical and help me to understand why I am not getting a tight roller set.

I feel blessed to have thick hair, but when it's not rolled properly...ugh!!

Thank you, Thank you. I do weddings, showers, bar mitzvahs

Did you want to c the diagram. Go to How To's and my member name is Tia722. In the How To's folder (the only one not locked... LOL) there's a picture of my diagram.

LOL..Girl, your hilarious!
I sure do miss my sistas from NYC; the women where I live are lacking in grooming and HUMOR.

I found your diagram on the thread that you sent, just had to dig. I washed my hair last night and it came out salon perfect.

I cannot roll my hair the way you do; my set is closer to the Dominican way, but I have to add a couple of extra rollers in the front, because my hair is so thick.

I found out what my problem was...I had thermasilk in my spritzer bottle to keep my ends moist and it was making my hair super stiff.

I used plain water in the spritzer last night and not only was my set nice and tight, but my roots came out nice and straight when I blowed them.

Other than having a huge pregnant belly, I'm feeling rather Diva-like
