Self Relaxers, Where Do you Rinse Out Your Relaxer?

Sink or Shower or Tub?

I currently rinse the cream out in the sink because I don;t know how I feel about letting the relaxer rinse down my body in the shower erplexed, but as I'm approaching greater lengths I know I wont be able to successfully use the sink anymore.

My question is how do you guys do it?

When I used to relax I rinsed in the sink or in the basement's utility tub. Personally I would be scared to wash it out in the shower. Soap is hard enough to get out of crevices let alone a chemical like relaxer.

I usually rinse it out in the sink but I've done it in the tub too. It makes for a harder clean up in the tub though. It leaves a gunky residue.

Shower. It's hard to bend over the faucet for as long as it takes to properly rinse out the relaxer.

Sink. I use the one in my laundry room. I do a thorough rinse and then do aphoghee 2 min. And then I neutralize 3 times leaving it in for 5 minutes the last time while I stretch. Then it's roux porosity control and the conditioner that comes with the relaxer. I don't know if I can do all that in the shower?

I've done it in both the Sink and the Tub. I actually prefer the Tub. But I mainly use the Sink.

I rinse out in the shower. Then I add conditioner. Then I rinse in the shower some more! then neutralize.

I do, however, rinse out henna and indigo in the tub over running water. Or I just sit in a tub full of water and dunk my head/body in.

I rinse in the shower. Why can't you do all that in the shower? I do. I rinse, apply reconstructor, neutralize, apply Roux PC, apply deep conditioner, jump out the shower, get under steamer, get back in shower, rinse, etc.

You just have to get in and out of the shower a couple of times, but I think this is the best way to get all the relaxer out. Otherwise, the hair is flipped over your head which can cause tangles, and you risk the chance of missing some spots like the hairline, behind the ear, and the nape area. IMO, it is better to rinse straight down towards the back of the head in the direction the hair naturally flows.

I used to use the tub, but now I use and prefer the sink. I get the relaxer out a lot better in the sink.

I rinse out in the sink. Because I neutralize about 3-4 times, it does make my back ache, but I stretch when I'm giving the neutralizer a chance to do it's job with each shampoo.

I've tried the shower before and my back broke out in a rash/acne. I am able to thoroughly get the relaxer out in the sink.

I rinse in the shower. The sink causes too many tangles for me. I have one of those plastic beauty salon capes and I put that on backwards-so that the full body of the cape is covering my backside- and rinse out the relaxer. The cape keeps the relaxer run-off from getting on my body.

I relax the front of my hair first, rinse and neutralize this section at the kitchen sink using the spray attachment. This allows me to control the water flow from wetting the back section which is also covered by a plastic cap.

Then I relax the back, rinse and neutralize this section in the shower so that the front won't receive the run off from the back. I continue with the rest of the process in the shower since I'm already there.

I rinse in the tub, leaning my head over the side while I use the shower head to rinse out. I have a hand-held shower head, so I don't have to get in the shower to rinse thoroughly.

In the shower. This way I can get it all out easier without having to bend over a sink. And thanks MissLawyerLady for that tip about using the salon cape- thats something I will be utilizing next time
