Self Relaxers - Smoothing?

Hi There Ladies,

I was wondering if anybody else had any issues with hair either being or looking underprocessed because of improper smoothing? I've tried the sectioning method but have still had limited success in making my hair look salon-smooth after a touch up.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Is it just me this happens to???

I can't really explain it but I smooth like my stylist do. I go over it (once I applied all the relaxer) with a rattail comb. Not really combing it but raking it to smooth it. BUT I DON'T RAKE IT ALLL THE WAY DOWN, just the area with the relaxer on it. And I always apply relaxer to the thickest/nappiest section of m y hair first
