Umm yeah... a few years ago I burned a good chunk of my hair out by doing this. The key is to make sure you have the right temperature. Too hot and you'll burn it... A little too cool and you might cause heat damage from running the comb thru multiple times to get the hair straight enough...
Would you considering flatironing instead of using a pressing comb? I think that would be a lot easier for you to learn to do. I know you asked about pressing though but just wanted to bring it up. There are lots of posts about flatironing if you are interested.
