I am looking for a seamless comb. I went to Sally Beauty Supply and asked them. They informed me that they had never heard of such a thing, so I explained what it was. Then they said they guessed they did not carry them. Can anyone tell me if I can buy them at any particular store or do I have to place an order online?

That's weird... I got three from the Sally's near me. Ask for Sally's Item# 354502. Maybe they can order them for you. They are only $1.99 ea.

sassygirl, i have one of those bone-looking combs from sally's that cost $1.99. double check to make sure it doesn't have seams. mine did. most bone combs will be in the $8-10 price range.

I had the EXACT same experience at Sally's last night. I had to show them a comb to explain it to them.

Someone said it was the Cricket comb but it doesn't say anything about being seamless.

are the cricket combs the seamless ones? i never have problems with them. i got them at sallys too. i also bought a rattail comb and a fine tooth rattail comb and didnt have any problems with them. rattail worked fine when i had new growth. the fine tooth rattail worked fine for roller setting but with the new growth my hair was like no no no no no. God bless you all.

Hi Alireno,

When I first heard about seamless combs and went to Sally's they looked at me like I was crazy so I bought a nail file and made my own. You file down all the seams and...Presto seamless comb. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

The Cricket #354502 are the seamless ones that I have. I think Sally's sales people must use another term for 'seamless'. When I asked they didn't know what I was talking about either...

I went to Sally's today to get another Cricket comb. They have seams! I swear the clear one I bought about a year ago doesn't have seams, but the blue one I bought today does. I even took it back to exchange it for a clear one--they all had seams. /images/graemlins/confused.gif I'm guarding the one I have with my life!

@ hairfanatic: I guess I'll be breaking out my nail file tonight...

Sorry for the confusion folks.

Stupid question but here goes anyway,

What are seemless combs? What do 'seems' look like? How do you distinguish one from another?

Thanks,
Iris

Seams are that line of plastic that run down each tooth of a comb. If you look at them with a powerful magnifying glass you'll see that the lines (seams) are rough and jagged. If the comb is really cheap (like the "bag o' combs" you see in the dollar store), you won't need the magnifying glass! These seams rip and tear at your hair every time you comb it.

Thank you Sassygirl125 for making everything crystal clear to me /images/graemlins/grin.gif And you got that right about those combs in those 99cent stores /images/graemlins/shocked.gif Goodness gracious I wouldn't touch those with a ten-foot pole!

Thanks again,
Iris

Okay, I'm still not sure how to find out if a comb has seams or not...how can you really tell if the comb is seamless or not?

Bett1e, if I tried to use any of the combs on that page, I would probably break that sucker in two. My hair would just laugh at me and say, "You've got to be kiddin'"

Am I the only sista left on the planet who still uses K-Cutters? Now, here is a comb: http://www.ebonyline.com/britprofkcut.html
That's what I'm talkin' about!!

What exactly is a seamless comb? How can I tell...I looked at the pictures but they don't look any different from any other combs I have seen.

Umsumayyah, Girl, back in the day every brother with an afro had a K-Cutter. About the ONLY place you could buy one was at a liquor store in a black neighborhood.

Well, I have longish, thick, coarse hair. Serious "afro" material. So this comb has always been perfect for me. I have been using K-Cutters as long as I can remember, and I have found that I have NO problems as far as hair breakage or damage from combing. I load on the conditioner and detangle my wet hair quite easily with this comb. And it works out well, also, if I press my hair and comb it while my hair is straight.

Maybe your combs are seamless... I've never seen them in stores where I live. I got mine from Tenderhead.com. You can slso get them from hairsense.com and ebay.

The Jilbere and Conair shower combs are popular. They have seams, but they are very smooth. No snags and only $1!

You can get them at Sally's, Walmart and Target.

I buy mine from www.tenderheaded.com I would not comb my hair without them over time you be able to see the condition of your hair changes for the better at least for me I noticed my hair shaft is alot smoother. I have thin hair so I would never comb my hair with anything but.

I also have two combs I ordered from online from tenderheaded. I adore the smaller comb I bought from them, model #CR-C30. These combs are handmade in India from Italian cellulose, and they are static-free. They arrived about a week after I ordered them, and they were well packaged. I am not as happy with the larger comb I got, model CR-C9W. The teeth just aren't as wide apart as I'd thought they would be. No fault of the company, I myself just misjudged the size of the comb. If anyone else is going to order, I'd say order one with larger spacing between the teeth. The latter one I got is really not for detangling, IMO. HTH.
