Okay, I have some Scurl and I am trying to use up the bottle. I see that everyone loves it but I am NOT feeling it. It makes my hair feel waxy and heavy. Maybe I am not using it right. Which one are you ladies using (pics below)? Also HOW are you using it??

I use the first one. White bottle blue top.

I am not crazy about it at and will not purchase again. I use it when i do my wash and wear hair.

I use the 1st pic of S-Curl in the blue & white bottle. I use it post wash as a leave-in. I spray it in to my hand and massage in. I also spray it on my edges and seal it with oil. It can definitely be too heavy if you spray it into the length of your hair. Is that how you've been using yours, MizaniMami?

On occaison I use my bottle of Care Free Curl Gold as a setting lotion for twistouts. It makes hair silky and soft. :D

I use the first one. I find if you apply it at night b4 putting on a scarf it lays the hair flat but is only good for ponytails or protective styles, not straight styles. If it weights it down you may be using too much. I also use it with the scarf method.

Yeps! I need to give that a try!

Bumping for other Scurl Users!

I don't use any of the sprays, but I do use carefree curl gold. With that stuff you only need a little bit.

I use the first one. Try using it on your wet hair. I use it on my wet hair before I braid it or band it up to air-dry and it comes out soooo soft and moisturized....it's not heavy at all. Actually I can't even feel the product, just soft moisturized hair. When I use it on dry hair it does feel kinda coated and heavy.

I used to use the first one but I've replaced it with a mixture of glycerine and water (3 parts water for every part of glycerine).

how does it compare to scurl? Is it just as moisturizing? I am looking to replace the scurl so this sounds great. Are you using vegetable glycerine?

I use the same bottle. I used it on my braids and it made them very oily. I have not tried it on my relaxed hair for airdrying yet.

I use the first one.

I used to have the same problem when I first tried it, it made my hair feel sticky and kinda gross:lol: . I was using it on dry hair tho and using waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much, really trying to get all my hair covered.

Now I use a little after my leave in and seal it with WGO. My hair has never airdried this soft!! I also use a little before bed, again sealing with WGO. Again, soft soft hair. I think the key is not using too much.

HTH :)

I use the first one.
It's best to use it when your hair is in a protective style, otherwise it will weigh your hair down if you choose to wear it straight. A little goes a long way.

I use the Blue and white Scurl bottle labeled "No Drip." I also use the Sta So Fro activator. But I think I'll be sticking with S-curl, it's easier to find and it comes in larger bottles.

I use the second one/texturizer moisturizing spray and also the gel. The first one breaks my forehead out, is way too oily and runs off on clothing etc.

tishess I started using the glycerine mixture because I didn't want the parabens. And yes I use vegetable glycerine. I think the water mixture is less greasy and just as good at moisturizing. I also really like knowing what all the ingredients are!

I use the first one but I add water. When I saw this thread I touched my puff yep still soft. I use Stay Soft Fro too the last one with added water as well.

S-curl in the blue and white bottle and stay sof fro (the last bottle). S-curl is great for dry edges! Just enough to moisturize and a thin coating of oil worked wonders for my kitchen area.

I use the 'No Drip' one in the white and blue bottle. I find that it works best on new growth only and on damp or wet hair. A little goes a long way too.

I use the one in the blue and white bottle. I don't use it alone because it makes my hair too wet, I mix it with some ORS olive oil and my hair loves it!

I'm a 4a/4b natural and I just started using the product in the 2nd picture(gray and blue bottle). I am using it hesitantly because I used to use the 1st one (blue and white bottle) and it softened the heck out of my relaxed hair. It softened it to the point where i could easily pull of sections of my hair...my hair was damanged yall. I'm so afraid of this happening again with this new bottle, but I use it because my hair is too dry and it needs moisture. I use it sparingly with hopes of preventing damange. For instance, I damp my hair in the shower 1st and then spray and rub a small amount of the scurl into my hair.

It would be great to hear from women who have been using scurl consistently and successfully for years.

Thanks,

SNJ

I use the first "no-drip" one. a little bit in the morning.

At night I spray a mixture of water, oil and this product on my hair, braid them and put a scarf over it. I agree with the product making the hair soft. works with mine.

i use the last one (but my version is Instant Activator / Moisturizer)
it give silky/big braidouts- i like it because its not too heavy.
this is one of the first braidouts in which i used it.
