Scared of Scissors

Hi Everyone,

I have learned a lot on this board and I know it's bad to hold on to split ends. I think I may have a lot of split ends from the mishandling before I started caring for my hair. Before I would let anyone who wanted to try cut my ends, even after they said they didn't know if they could. No one ever jacked me up or cut off to much, but I really didn't care either way. Now that I want to grow out my hair I'm kinda scared to get my hair cut. I'm going to the salon tomorrow. So how should I direct the stylist or will she just know what to cut if I tell her to get rid of the split ends?

If you have a lot of splits far up on the shaft I image it will be a lot shorter. Can you look at your own ends and tell how much might get cut?

I hope all went well today at the salon. I'm not on time, but for future references be very specific and direct. Tell your stylist exactly how much you would like to be trimmed and observe her as she's doing it. If you want or need a little more taken off, it an be done gradually. Don't be afraid of trimming or dusting split ends, it could potentially prevent a major cut in the future.:nono: Also avoiding it will lead to unhealthy, damaged hair.:yep:

I totally agree. You have to be really serious and don't let them convince u to go along w/smthg that u know u dont want to do. Also, scraggly, thin ends are not pretty. :)
