When I first read about this at Motwon Girl's website I thought is was interesting but never got around to trying it.

But the scientist at the Natural Haven blog made a good point when she said that if it can exfoliate your scalp than it will probably disturb and perhaps damage your cuticles as well. Are you ladies able to exfoliate your scalp without getting any of the mixture on your hair?

I don't ever get enough on my hair for concern, and what does get there dissolves, so I am not actually touching my hair at all. Just scalp. I can definitely see how having salt or another grain that doesnt dissolve quickly in your hair would rough the cuticle too much.. I part with a comb in the shower, rub a dub dub till the scrub turns to suds. Not sure how others work, but the BDT scrub will kinda dissolve as you keep rubbing and let water run.

I also read once that some people have mixed sugar with honey, that the honey helps sugar dissolve or something?

To do this, I give myself a hot oil treatment. After doing a whole head baggie for about 4 hours, I gently lift any scaling from my scalp with a fine tooth comb. I then shampoo as usual. Works for me.

quite frankly I'm against using salt to exfoliate.

I make my own sugarscrubs for this very reason.
Sugar, sugar, sugar, at least it's not drying....and won't sting your eyes.

I purchased this shampoo from kerastase, its an exfoliating shampoo. I tried it once and I'm not sure to try it twice. I think that exfoliating products may not be use by people with sensitive skin.

Do any of you ladies still practice scalp exfoliation? I've been researching the benefits and it makes sense that if you exfoliate your face then why not your scalp!

I like to exfoliate my scalp. It seems like my hair grows a wee bit faster afterwards because the pores arent clogged anymore. Not only that but the scalp feels refreshed afterwards.

I haven't done this in ages. Simply put I have become hair lazy and too many extra steps makes me exhausted and frustrated with touching it. However when I did do it 1 tablespoon of turbinado sugar to 2 tablespoons of conditioner (cheap watery kind) worked like a charm:)
