Saying "Grace"

Do anyone of you say "grace" when out in public? I notice when I'm done saying it, others will be looking at me . It actually caused some to say their grace and others just go back to what they were doing. I have a coworker who teases me about it but whenever I'm done saying it, she will say Amen for the both of us :yep:. It's nothing for me to be ashamed about but is there a problem with me saying it other than in my home? I say grace no matter how small my meal is, I'm thankful to be able to eat every night.

Every time! I don't mean those 'headache prayers' either. You know the ones where you touch your temples as if your head is hurting and bow slightly. :nono: I used to be ashamed to bless my food in public then I started to reflect back on all the things God has done for me.... I get so excited! Lemme' tell you I could flip the whole table over in the cafeteria! this country is not perfect but even if I'm on welfare and food stamps there are few true blue cases where someone here starved to death. People all over this world are dying and burying their kids b/c there is no other alternative. Plus knowing all of the recent cases of these people being mad at their bosses or mad at the world so they didn't wash their hands or did stuff on purpose to contaminate food and food surfaces... I ain't got time for that mess! I'm on a mission and I fully intend to finish my race. In order to do that I need to be healthy and nourished properly. At this point I'd bless my food and might reach across the table to bless yours too :lachen:.
Everybody else is coming out and getting tolerated now-a-days why can't I a Christian come out too? Girl, let 'em look 'till their eyes are dry!!

I say it very discreetly because a prayer is between me and G-d, not me and G-d and bystanders lol. I usually say it while I cross myself, but not the big sign of the cross, a little one on the breastplate with my thumb. I don't close eyes or anything like that when I pray anyway and it's not audible. You can say your grace in public though...there's nothing that should hold you back. Maybe you want to find a way to do it more discreetly? I don't know how others do it...but that was my advice as not to feel you're on stage. And I know this Kenyan guy who said his mother said grace everytime she even drank water. That was truly a thankful woman.

To be honest. I forget to pray over my food so often, that I just say my "protection prayers" (food, traveling, etc) in the morning and I'm good.

But if I remember, I will pray and get right to eating.

SO drops all conversation, holds the plate in one hand and the other hand palm up in reverence and bows his head... EVERY TIME... and i was like what???
when he does it out loud its so simple... i was expecting something very intricate, but it was so similar to the prayer in my thread on simple prayers lol...
Godly men are so cute

ETA: i joke with him sometimes cuz i forget to say grace... i told him i said one grace 2 years ago to bless all my food from here on out lol...
i do say grace, i just forgettie

All the time, I bow my head and do the sign of the cross (I was raised Episcopalian) of the time. When my SO and I are eating out, we join hands over the food and say grace together.

OK, sorry Prudent, but that was funny right there..it's so visual. LOL

We say grace all the time, and take turns saying the grace. But in public, my 13-year-old is still in people bondage and doesn't like it when we boy our heads and hold hands. :nono: Sometimes we hold hands...sometimes we don't. But we do bow our heads. Eating in restaurants these days, we just HAVE to ask God to bless our food. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof... what God blesses, no man can curse! Amen and amen...

good topic, LHCF!

You have the heart of Jesus :yep:

He blessed everything when in public. Remember the 5 loaves and fishes and how much they mulitplied. All because Jesus gave thanks and in public.

I say Grace in public as well. :yep: In this day and time, we'd better say Grace. With all of the food contamination and what not. I mean, Dear Lord... Peanut Butter? Spinache? Tomatoes? Contaminated with salmonella?

Grace is what we need... for sure. And it's your prayers which are saving someone else unawares. It's called the 'overflow', because of what's in your heart is enough for all; a grateful heart. Love multiplied by God our Father, as did the 5 loaves and fishes. Why else would your coworker say 'Amen'. She's no fool. She's in your overflow. :yep:

Blessings, you bring a smile to God's heart.

This is my EXACT response word for word. I try to, but 95% of the time I do the above. I think this post will make me more mindful!
