The saran wrap treatment works...my old stylist used to do it on me and it gave me white girl swing. Im going to do it myself for my home roller wraps, but I have to buy some saran wrap. I was so mad the other day when I was all set to do it and found out I didnt have any!
Neala, Saran wrap is not a method of doing anything. It is the name of plastic wrap used to keep food fresh. Many people use plastic wrap on their heads in place of a plastic cap for deep conditioning or just baggying.
I know what the saran wrap is as far as item. But I see post from ladies on here and other forums saying they used saran wrap to wrap their hair to get a nice straight swang to their hair. Just wasn't sure how they did it.
As far as was it done as final step after wrapping their hair using setting lotion or another way.
So do i use everything like a regular wrap - wet hair and apply setting lotion and a bit of oil then wrap and then apply the saran wrap and sit under a hooded dryer!?
I want swang without having to blowdry and flat iron every single time i wash. TIA
Actually it is done on dry hair...but u know u might be on to something! U might be able to air dry or dry under the hood with a wet wrap (no saran wrap yet), and when its dry then saran wrap it and go back under the dryer for 10 or 15 minutes and Ill bet it will give u silkier hair! You should try it.
The way most people do it is they rollerset and dry under the dryer, then wrap their hair, saran wrap the wrap, and go back under the dryer for a few more minutes for silkiness/shine/body/,movement.
This is how I do it. I rollerset my hair and either airdry it or sit under the dryer once it's dry I add a bit of moisturizer and wrap it and put the saran wrap on top. I sit under the dryer for 15 mins. Once it's done it's so soft and smooth. At first I didn't know if it would do anything but when I tried itI was hooked.
Your hair is so pretty Bright but I'm afraid I would sweat my hair out under the dryer with plastic on it!! I'm thinking I'd have to wash it all over again....
Anyone else have that problem? (I haven't tried it yet, but I sweat in my hair so I can only imagine)
I tried it after watching Macherieamour's video clip. I have to tell you, I was skeptical. I actually curled my hair with hot curlers instead of the rollerset. Then I wrap it and placed the saran wrap on and sat under the dryer for 15 minutes. My hair has never been so soft, silky and bouncy. It looked like it was professionally done. I got so many compliments. It works!
I haven't done it since because I'm trying to stay away from direct heat and rollersetting seems like such a chore.![]()

just dont stay under the dryer longer than 10-15 minutes. I began sweating around my hairline after about 10 min. It totally works though!![]()
I'm a head sweater too but once you wrap the hair make sure it is rolled off your edges if you are a sweater and poke holes in it with a rat tail comb to vent. This is what they do to me at the salon and I still get to swangin when I'm done. It works amazingly.
I see that you are a 4B natural. This still works for you on your natural hair????? I am like almost 9 months post and tha roots...tha roots....tha roots are on fiya!!!!!!
I would like to have that "swang" but my roots are like....
..............u are too funny! I think u have a backup career in comedy.
