Salon Straight....

Okay, how do YOU achieve salon straight. I know there was a thread on this, but can't find it. I can get my hair straight, I just can't get it silky stright like in my siggy without it swelling on me later in the day.

Help Please...

Is your natural or relaxed, mine is natural and I bought a maxiglide last week and used it on my hair last night, it was silky straight, but I do need something that will stop the puffiness, other than that it does a good job.

I can get it initially straight....it just starts puffing later.

Keracare creme press+maxiglide and aveda anti-humectant gave super straight hair.I used nexxus heat protexx before hand and then flat ironed with my maxiglide on setting 5 with steam for the ends.

This has been my best press yet!HTH:wink2:

My hair does not puff or frizz anymore. I wash, condition with a conditioner with a lot of silicone, and use a serum with a lot of silicone. To dry, I either wet wrap or blow dry as straight as possible. Then I flat iron in very small sections with a fine-toothed comb following the flat iron.

The way my hair dries is important. If it's puffy, crunchy or feeling too dry it won't flat iron well. Using the fine-toothed comb as I flat iron is also important.

it takes a good balance of the Aveda anti-humectant pomade. if you don't use enough, it does nothing... if you use too much, you get sticky "greasy" hair. there are others out there... my stylist uses a spray one that was AWESOME and of course feather-light... just wish i knew the name of it... :perplexed

my hair swells regardless. if i press it bone-straight, it will stay straight for the most part with Aveda but somehow it still swells into "big" hair. my hair is just "body-prone." :lachen:

But you know, that's a GOOD thing. I will try the aveda stuff.

Exactly, I peeped game about this when I first went natural.

Using a comb to do what exactly? To comb after you flat iron? to blow dry? to comb before flat ironing?

You place the comb in front of the flat iron and follow it all the way down your hair shaft. I was surprised that it made a difference. It had to be the comb that made a difference because my products were the same as always.

Oooh okay. I'll try this.

I have natural 4b hair type. I sometime use mizani thermasmooth system or I'll just use mizani heat protectant with rose h2o. I ususally get a co-worker to use a round brush when its damp (not soaking wet) and then I get her too flat iron it with my sedu flat iron. It last quite a while since the thermasmooth system has a humidity resistant spray. It has a nice sheen and is very light. If I want more shine I just use a really light oil sheen.

When I do it myself (doesn't last as long) I use a pick instead of a round brush.

You're doing all this at work?? You work in a hair salon?
