Rollerwraps.... I am so mad at you LHCF

Ok so maybe I got my information wrong. I know a lot of ladies say they rollerset and wrap to get that gorgeous smooth hair with lots of body. So, against my better judgement, I decided to go to the salon near my house.

I got another trim,. She trimmed exactly as I told her just a little off the ends and she said I have about inch of bad ends left. So I will be getting those trimmed. After the last trimming ordeal, my ends split everywhere. I don't know why. Almost every hair had a split.:nono: I've never had a lot of splits.

So she asks what style I want and I say, thinking of you guys, a roller wrap. She says you sure you don't want me to flat iron it and wrap it? Well this is what my hair came out looking like. I was disappointed with the style, but the cut and condition was great. I love having someone else wash my hair. I almost fell asleep at the shampoo bowl. Next time I'll go for a regular wrap with the ends bumped under, lol.

Last time I used a hot air brush to straighten my hair, it came out looking like that. I just went back and flat ironed the roots, then you don't have so much volume at the scalp but still have the body in the rest of the hair.

THEN you wrap. It comes out lovely. :yep:

I didn't ask her to blow out the roots. I went home put a headband on it and it was really cute. I had a lot more curl than the lady in the picuture. I thought saying roller wrap was all I was suppose to say, lol.. She gave me exactly what I ask for, lol.

My rollerwraps usally come out really good. I like the volume but my hairstylist usally flat irons it out a little to smooth the cuticle.

Where are you pics missy?? :spank:

I hate the big Sally Fields looking hair. I normally pin it up and keep the curls on the ends or wrap it to flatten it out some. (But I know exactly the look you are talking about!!)

I like big hair too. Did she do the saran wrap thing? That's what I'm doing to my hair...today :D Flat ironing looks great the first day then it look so flat and boring the next day on my hair. I like bounce.

I could not post those pictures, lol. I think I am going to wash today. My hair feels like it has a lot of residue on it. It's the foam wrap she used. I hate wrap lotions. You know you are one of the inspirations for cutting my ends again. I want nice ends just like yours.

That's what I wanted. The bounce. I didn't want flat hair, but this was so beyond that. Maybe I can wrap it today and try the syran wrap thing myself before I commit to washing.

Ummm....Leona - you have ALOT of Hair, hun!!! LOL

That pix...LOL....but seriously... I bet it looked very pretty and you are trippin!!! She probably should have did a saran wrap versus a regular wrap (probably used that sanex/barber strip) to kind of "tame" it ...I don't know of any salon in Houston that uses "Saran Wrap" to wrap hair after a rollerset...you may have to bring your own saran wrap next time....I bet once you wrap it tonight - it will fall like you want it to!

When I say she wrapped it I mean she brushed it into a wrap and then pull it back down after 2 seconds. I was like okkk I asked for the wrong thing, lol. I still have one more place I want to try. They give $15 roller sets:grin:. Can't go wrong with just a rollerset.

^^True. Let them rollerset it and do the rest when you get home....THat's if you want the rollerwrap.

 That pic is priceless....I know exactly what ur talking about

Girl that's now my old stylist used to do them :nono:

I would look sooo old....I stick to the saran wrap when I wear my hair down!...at least until I find someone who can do them :ohwell:

I never knew about the saran wrap thing until I got here, but I NEVER had rollerwraps that big, and I did them for over 15 years (seriously, from around 11 until 27 when I transitioned--regular wrapping once took my hair 8 hours to dry :nono:)!! That's just too funny. For me the key was always wrapping the hair for at least 20 minutes before taking it down; I never flatironed the roots or anything like that. And I used a liquid setting lotion, not the foam kinds. I hate those things too!

@Bolded - No wonder...you got to get it wrapped pretty tight and sit under dryer for about 15 minutes...shucks - that 2 second wrap served no purpose....that is not bad at all for rollerset (15.00 price tag)

That's how I do my roller wraps. Take out the rollers, wrap the hair and sit back under the dryer. I usually don't need a flat iron after that.

ok, call me a bad hair sister, but I have been watching this thread today trying to figure out EXACTLY what a rollerwrap is. What are the steps that make it different from a roller set?

Wrapping the hair after removing the rollers instead of styling as is.

oooooooohhhhh, ok. I thought it was some new technique. I've done that and it does make the hair very big. I have noticed that it works much better on longer hair, say APL and longer. shorter hair just looks like a 1950's doo wop thingy.

But if it is done properly with the silk wrap method of moisterizing, then wrapping in saran, it is magically tamed, no matter the length.

Where are the 15.00 rollersets...my friend lives there is loves to get her hair done.

oh wow, i hate when they do that. WHAT IS THE POINT. That's just like brushing out the curls.

LOL@Picture!!!! :lachen:

No darling, you blow out your hair & flatiron and THEN you do the wrap.

I think this was the part I missed. Ya'll just don't know. It's so hard for me to sit with rollers for long. I can't stand it. The only time I can do it is when I am paying for it, lol.

Yeah, she should have know to blow your roots straight, then wrap....or you could have told her you didn't want too much volume.

I like body and movement in my hair, but I always get my roots blown straight. When I used to get roller wraps back in the day, she would roll it - let it dry, then blow or flat iron my roots straight, then wrap and do the saran wrap method. It took a while, but the results were beautiful.

LMAO AT THAT PIC!

Sorry Hun!

Girl that's the Texas Roller Wrap so old girl was on point.

Yeah she did give me what I asked for, lol. I didn't want to use the flat iron to avoid heat.

Before I give you the information, I'm gonna have to go and try it out myself. I don't want anyone's hair getting messed up over reccomendation from me. I haven't been yet. Plus the place is kinda like a little side place. It doesn't look really nice, but if I can get a good rollerset for 15 I don't care. This hot messness cost me 65.
