... with ALL the rollers going up, does that mean even the bang and crown areas are rolled towards the face? And above the ears, do you roll up too?

I know there was just a thread on this, but I don't get it yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

BUMP.:D
Does anyone here rollerset with all the rollers rolled either up or towards the face? Would this work? I'm planning to try it tonite and would like to avoid a bad hairday tommorrow!!!

I tried this once and although it make my roots really straight and flat, my hair isn't long enough yet, so the style looked sort of flipped. I roll going down toward the neck.

Thanks Ladylnn.

Thought I'd share my results...Well, I tried this last nite. Of course it snowed so much I'm not going out of the house today anyway!

But, last nite I pre-pooed with warm coconut oil, honey, and olive oil for 2 hours with a warmed towel on my head. Then washed and conditioned with Kercare. Rollerset with all the rollers rolled either up or towards my face using a bit of jojoba oil and motions setting lotion. For the first time I sat under the dryer till it was actually dry (approx. 80 minutes), and used the cool shot for a few minutes.

This is the first time I ever had hair come out so soft and straight at the roots from a rollerset. Don't have the poof going on. No flat ironing needed. From there you could either fingerstyle, wrap, or as I did, throw on a scarf and call it a night.

 I'm sooo happy-- I'm not rollersetting challenged anymore! And this is all with 6.5 weeks new growth.

Happy rollersetting!

Glad it worked out OK for you.

I tried that once and my hair came out really flat and limp - maybe there wasn't enough new growth.

Congratulations on your rollerset! I think I usually roll under, I don't have a technique per say. But, what I've been doing has worked so far.

I'd suggest trying a smaller roller size if you decide to try it again. :)

I love the rollerset! I was wondering why the a Dominican rolleret was done this way. I have attempted to roll this way but I get frustrated. I will try this again.

Thank you aliajp!

Liz25_Ga, I hope it works out for you. I start at the back/nape and work my way forwards, combing everything down before I roll it up. I feel you tho, I've been frustrated for two years trying to get this rollersetting thing perfected! Keep trying!

Wow! Your hair looks awesome! I wonder if this will work with my texrelaxed hair. I'll have to work up the patience to try this.

Imani97,
Thank you! I hope it works for you too. My hair is texrelaxed, but is fine/thin. But I would think the thicker the better! If you try it let me know how it comes out. BTW, I love the pic in your sig!

Your rollerset came out great! I never have the patience to do a proper rollerset, plus they always came out ultra poofy! I think that whenever I try a roller set I will use this technique!

I did this rollerset technique last night, airdrying it overnight and did a braidout in the morning for a couple of hours (I do box braids). It turned out beautifully, much better than usual, mainly because there was no poof. Since my hair was already flatter against my head from rollersetting "up", so was my braidout, as if I did cornrow braids. Thank you sharing this technique Bluejay47 and Macherieamour too!:)
