I seen a rollerset system that looks similar to the caruso, but does not involve the water and all of that stuff. I was wondering how do they work and how well do they work? Thanks in advance ladies.

I own a Remington Caresetter that I bought from Walmart, but I only use it for special occasions. My Carusos I use more often because my hair seems to respond better to them - i.e. moisture, better curls. My remington setter is just like using a curling iron almost, so I try not to pull it out too often.

It does help me with frizz though. Once I was in a hurry getting ready for a function and I put in my Carusos while I got dressed. After I removed them, one side was VERY frizzy. I think I did not leave them in long enough on that side. I put some of the Remington Caresetter rollers in on that side and they smoothed things out in just a few seconds.

I would never do something like that on a regular basis, though.

This is the setter and I also have these clips that I ordered from them:

I used to own this hairsetter as well. It works via electricity to heat up the rollers (like Honeydew said, similar to a curling iron) rather than steam, like the Caruso system. They both work equally well at curling the hair, but I prefer the Carusos since it infuses the hair with moisture from the steam. HTH.

Thank You for your responses ladies. I still have a questions

1. Are any of you ladies naturals, because I am and I am scared that the caruso will make my hair be either curly of frizzy due to the water/moisture.

............I'm thinking I need to go with the electric setter to avoid curly curls!!

As Honey Dew said, its like using a curling iron on low heat. I had a Babyliss set but I took it back. I wouldn't be able to use it to get smooth looking curls without blowdrying my hair first, and that's a no-no for me. I think the Caruso's would be the better choice, but I don't own a set so I really can't say.

The Caruso can make your hair frizzy. I am not natural, but the more my hair grows the more texlaxed it is and the more the caruso gives me puffy curls.

Oh ok....I think I will go with the electric set from walmart......I don't mind blow drying my hair every couple of weeks to achieve a different look. The flat iron is too much heat to achieve a straight style and the wet and curl is getting old.....real old!!!

I have a set of hot rollers. They are different from the Carusos in that they get hot. It's pretty much like using direct heat on your hair, which is why I haven't used mine in a long time. They get so hot that you have to pick them up by the sides... the middle causes a small amount of pain.

I have the one from Walmart
I bought it a few yrs ago to curl the ends of my microbraids
I haven't tried it on my natural or relaxed hair because mine doesn't get very hot and my hair is real thick and it was just ok on the thin micro hair. The curls didn't last very long.
My sis in law bought hers when I purchased mine. She has thin hair and she said it didn't work at all on her relaxed hair
She took it back to the store

Well............Alright. Scorpion you were the last juror to cast your ballot. SO I'm not gonna get it.......Maybe I will go to sally's and see what they have. Thanks for the info.

that was just my experience with it ..and my sis in law of course.. but don't let me ruin it for you..get it from target or walmart if you don't like it you can return it and get your money back:) one womans junk is another womans treasure ;)

Well,

I have 2 sets of these. They were pretty cheap ($10 each) & I've had them for a few years.

They work great for me. I like them better than hot curling bcuz it's not DIRECT heat, like from the curling iron.

I like them so much they were the first things I grabbed when we were planning our move here. I grabbed them before the curling & flat irons!

My set has wired pins to secure them, but I bought some butterfly clips (cheap)- I like them better.

That's my 2 cents. :look:

Hey AKA-Tude, I'm guessing your my soror because of the name.!!! lol....PM me sometime. Well I wanted to know are you natural? Because that is my main concern. I am scared they won't work.....mainly the caruso because of the moisture. But if I use the electric set, I will be willing to blow dry my hair if they work....so if you do have natural hair, do they work well?

I guess thats what I am trying to get at....I'm confusing myself now! Dang!

Hey Soror!!!

No, I'm not natural, so I can't help with suggestions for this product.

I've been relaxed for a LONG time, so that's my only experience with this rollerset.

I won't even guess if they will work if you blow dry first (even though I don't see why they wouldn't).

Again, these are like curling irons, just not direct 'iron- hot' heat, but the rollers do get a decent 'hot' heat (does that make sense:confused: ). And they give nice curls, but again, I don't know about the natural part.

HTH

Anyway, we should PM each other soon!
