OP your shedding looks like mine. I've been shedding terribly since September and normally I'm a heavy shedder but over the past few months I've acquired 4 small bald spots & lost 40% hair volume. I've tried Nioxin poo & con, nioxin vitamins, coffee & tea rinses, groganics, epo, garlic, garlic conditioner and nothing helped.

I went in for a physical exam & my blood results were normal. Mega Tek actually helped in decreasing my shedding years ago so I tried it again for a week and my hair fell out A LOT more. I was depressed over the holidays from this. 5.5 yrs of healthy natural hair shot straight to hell. I know how you feel but as long as you aren't experiencing any thinning or bald spots you should be just fine. Mine started 3 months after a very stressful period so I just have to wait it out.

It looks relatively normal to me, but i can see why your concerned. I shed a lot of hair, but im not bald yet so ive learnt not to worry about it.

To me it looks fine based on the following:-

1) you have a lot of hair on your head anyway (and lovely it is too!)
2) Its winter and a lot of us shed more during this season
3) your hair is natural so the curly hair makes the ball of hair look denser than if it was relaxed/ straight hair
4) you haven't reported any bald spots
5) you've had your hair in twists for two weeks, if you were to brush your hair daily for two weeks and keep all the hair, im sure it would look exactly the same as the pics.

We are all on this board to better our hair and regieme's so if you are worried, i would check out the actual strands of hair to see if there are bulbs at the end to ascertain whther its shedding or breakage, check out your iron levels, use tea rinses and don't leave your hair that long without combing if you cant handle how much hair comes outs in one hit. Its important to preserve our sanity! lol!!!

Good luck hun xxx

I'm going to go with no...it's pretty normal. The head sheds about 50-125 hairs per day. That can change with season, hormones, etc. Plus your hair is longer (and pretty!) so it's going to look like a lot more shedding than someone with 2 wks of SL hair.

...just to be on the safe side. I would stop the growth aides though.

When I started twisting my hair and leaving them in daily I noticed a huge "increase" in shedding. I mean I was ready to go to the ER I was so panicked. BUT my friends all pointed out that since it was in twists the hairs that normally would just fall out are now being kept in my head and I'm seeing a ton of hair I wouldn't normally see.
