I purchased a sample tri-fold packet (shampoo, conditioner, reconstrutor) on eBay.
About me:
Hair type: 3a/3b, fine
Style: Relaxed (last relaxer: September 2006)
Pureology Hydrate Shampoo
Color: Lavendar
Scent: Dirt with perfume spritzed on it...doesn't have that "commercial" scent
Ingredients: Advanced Nano Technology; Antifade Complex; ZeroSulfate - Salt and Sulfate free; Multiweight proteins; certified organic botanicals of rose, sandalwood and green tea; signature aromatherapy blend or ylang ylang, bergamot, anise and patchouli.
I first rinsed with Back to Basics Tangerine Grapefruit Clairifying Shampoo. I then applied Pureology, working it in to create lather (it's a zero-sufate shampoo). I immediately noticed my hair getting tangled. Rinsed and repeated. Same thing happened. This shampoo provides no slip.
Pureology Hydrate Conditioner
Color: White
Scent: Peppermint
Ingredients: Advanced Nano Technology; Antifade Complex; ZeroSulfate - Salt and Sulfate free; Multiweight proteins; jojoba esters and shea butter; certified organic botanicals of peppermint, sage and rosemary; signature aromatherpy blend of three essential mint oils.
I applied the conditioner from the middle of my ear to the ends, and also along my edges since I've been wearing a bun. Somehow, I smoothed some conditioner on my kitchen. My scalp started to burn. No, it wasn't a tingly sensation, it was a burning sensation. I tried to withstand it in an attempt to get some conditioning, but I had to rinse it out. I don't think I kept the conditioner on for 1 minute. My scalp now feels "cool." My hair was much more smooth than when I used the shampoo, but that's what conditioners are supposed to do.
Reconstructor
I did not try the reconstructor as I was just too lazy. It probably wouldn't make a difference because I have a sample size.
The verdict: I'm not impressed with this line. Definitely will not purchase. Thank goodness for sample sizes.
