It's time ladies(and gentlemen)for my first relaxer in 12 weeks. I have decided to let a family friend do it(dont worry she is a beautician by profession) because she won't charge hehe

Anyway my question is in addition to the instructions given by the perm, is there anything you ladies do? For example, do you do a protein treatment immediately following the neutralization? Or do you use cholesterol? Any tips are welcome. Please reply if you have any. Thanks!

I use Nexxus Keraphix after my relaxer. It's a protein treatment. I follow that with a moisturizing conditioner. I use Humecto. Comes out very soft!

Well, I usually use Keraphix a week before my relaxer to strengthen my hair before the process, but I guess as DSD said after the relaxer process is good too. I also use it sometimes a week after (usually just every 6 weeks though) and that helps.

I base my scalp really good and I cover my ends with the base cream too, in case of overlapping so my ends are protected.

Definitely deep condition afterwards!

Your final rinse in cold water helps for shiny hair!

If you should burn at all...have her to put a dab of sea breeze on the burning area. It will sting! But...this will prevent sores and scabs. Yuck! Trust me, it works!

Ok...that's all I can think of for now. Hope this helps.

Thanks DSD!

Yeah I tried it on my daughter once and on my scalp once. When they use oil sheen, that just soothes it some that's all.

You know the hair lady says to also use a clarifying shampoo a week after a relaxer to get rid of residue too.

I follow the neutralizer with an ACV rinse. Then i continue on with whatever condtioners I have chosen to use.

Let me go over that again. Relax, acv rinse, neutralizing, reconstructor and deep conditioninb. That would be fine. We can never be too careful when applying chemical to our hair.
