Ladies, I am trying to find helpful threads to ensure a sucessful process. Please share your relaxing tips and techniques or provide links to already existing threads.

Also my stylist used narobi for my relaxers. I am going to self relaxer so the relaxer choice is mine!!!

Please educate me on lye, vs no-lye and what brand relaxer worked for you. I am in dry a$$, hard water colorado! TIA

I think I am about a 4a/b hair type.

from what i understand lye and no lye are the same except sodium hydroxide is the straighteneing chemical in lye and i think calcium hydroxide is used in no lye
i think no lye is easier on the scalp and harsher on the hair

and for the actual self-relaxing i would practice with conditioner
LondonDiva also has a tutorial in her fotki http://public.fotki.com/LondonDiva/
she talks about relaxing in sections and using a protein conditioner after the rinsing and before the neutralization

here's another thread that i think will help also
