I have used

Hawaiian silky
dark and lovely
gentle treatment
clariol textures and tones relaxed- burned like hell
precise
pink oil relaxer kit
just for me
soft and beautiful botanicals
silk elements
vitale
affirm
mizani lye and no lye- really liked them both, my fav. no lye
design essentials
motions- totally sucked
Optimum care multi-mineral relaxer

Now I am still in limbo. Silk elements increases my shedding but makes my hair extremely silky. I might try ors lye if I self relax again

I use the Affirm Fiberguard Sensitive Scalp. After basing with Summit (which I love) I did not burn. But my hair does feel so limp after the perm and I do feel like my hair is thinner but I dont know if that was the perm or the fact that I stretched for the first time and I had a lot of shedding.

Well I have another relaxer coming up in 3 weeks and I still have some Affirm relaxer left from my last Sheldeez purchase. So I will see and report back.

Since I started self relaxing I used Soft and Beautiful Botanicals relaxer, Soft and Beautuful Conditioning relaxer, Profectiv Anti-Damage relaxer and just recently I tried ORS relaxer. My fav relaxer is definitely Profectiv Anti-Damage relaxer and I'll be using this relaxer from now on. My hair always feels stronger after using it.

I used Revlon's Fabulaxer all throughout high school. I was really in to stick straight hair then (I loathed new growth) so it was cool. As I got to college I switched to Design Essentials Texturizer at the suggestion of a friend. Her sister's hair was being over processed so they decided to use a less harsh relaxer... her hair began to thrive after using it so I figured what the heck. I love the results it gives me (straight, but not lifeless, and i still have a slight hint of curl) and doubt I'll be changing anytime soon.

Revlon no lye (way too strong burned like crazy)
Fabulaxer
Dark and Lovely (dry hair)
TCB
Motions sensitive scalp no lye (best relaxer for my scalp)
Affirm Lye (good results but still recovering from thin hair)
Phyto Index II (underprocessed with dry hair)

Currently using ORS Lye which I think is a keeper but we'll see.

Dark and Lovely
soft and beautiful
motions
designer Essentials
Cream of nature
optimum( to strong for me)
mizani (I really liked this)

I can't remember the others but its been over 25 years of me relaxing my hair. I even had the carefree girl and s-curl relaxer that the men used. I couldn't do it right so it never took. I was in college then and had a chance to look at my hair under a microscope and it scared the daylights out of me no more trying relaxers and curl products. I stayed with Cream of nature and then switch to Mizani. Tried it one time and six months later went natural

umm..
PCJ
Optimum
Fabulaxer - dried my hair out!
Hawaiian Silky
Precise
Motions
Affirm
Mizani - i liked
Design - current [i like]

i don't get relaxers often [maybe every 3-6mths], but i like Design, Motions and Mizani the most

I have been using cream of nature but the woman who does my hair says its drying. Im switching to Mizani in a couple of weeks.

-TCB Naturals - Used for years. nice, but makes my hair too straight too fast
-Mizani (at the salon) - Nice but I have never tried it on my own
-Profectiv Regular - WONDERFUL, but underprocessed me too much
-Phytorelaxer II - underprocessed, but I am going to try it again
-Profectiv Super - WONDERFUL and has become my relaxer of choice.
-Phytorelaxer II - I bought another one of these, but I am afraid to try it again. Profectiv works so well, I don't want to mess up a good thing.

I've gone from TCB, to Affirm No-Lye, to ORS Lye. These are the only relaxers I can remember having, but I'm sure there was something b/f tcb.

Unfortunately i've had my share of relaxers:

I think i started with Just for me no lye
I used PCJ lye nutri sheen for a few years and dont remember anything negative about it... maybe i should go back to this
when i was around 16 or 17 i had the brilliant idea to switch my relaxer to motions.. worked out well but overtime my hair thinned and my relaxer nightmare officially began

I used Mizani lye regular, which i HATED.. that must be the STRONGEST relaxer EVER!!!
Affirm lye mild
Revlon mild and regular lye/.. both were too strong

then i found Phyto and have been content for the past two years... BUT I'm thinking about switching to lye again

Then........Dark n Lovely (I self-relax for 9 years)
Now.........Mizani for fine/colored (last 2 touch ups)

Dudley's - Loved it!!!!
Mizani - Loved it!!!
ORS Lye - 1st attempt at self-relax and I underprocessed
Silk Elements - Used as a corrective to ORS Lye and so far I love it (waiting on that reversion that some ladies have experienced - so far so good!)

ETA on 4/7/10: Linange Shea Butter Relaxer - The absolute best relaxer ever! Been using it for the two years.

Self-relaxed starting from when I was 12:
Dark N' Lovely (My Mom's choice)
Fabulaxer
Soft N Beautiful
Gentle Treatment
Revlon lye
Optimum

My stylists have used:
PCJ
Dudley
Motions
Mizani

My last was a Dark N' Lovely self relax. I'm going to use either ORS n/lye or Profectiv when I self-relax mid July. After that I think I will be going back to a stylist for my relaxers. If I like ORS n/lye, I might keep on having my Sister do them for me and order some ORS lye.

You really had to ask huh?

French perm - this was the FIRST relaxer used on my hair.
Fabulaxer
Textures and Tones - left my hair terribly underprocessed.
Dark N' Lovely
Motions - this was the last relaxer I used.
Soft N' Beautiful
Design Essentials
African pride - burned the bejesus outta me.
Just for me
Optimum
Gentle treatment
Designer touch
Precise
Raveen
PCJ
TCB
Cream of Nature
Vitale - I was thinking about going back to this one. I remember I liked this one awhile back and I don't know why I switched.

I currently use Phyto Index 2

I use affirm sensitive scalp. I relax myself and I am very sensitive to burning...this is the only relaxer that doesn't burn me

I used Linange Relaxer no-lye. It was great. Still leaves body.
The texturizer was good, but texturizers don't do much for me.

I've used:

Dark and Lovely (my hair laughed hysterically at this relaxer)
Revlon (I dont know which one it was so long ago)
Precise
Optimum
Affirm
Silk Elements MegaSilk Olive Oil

Affirm, SE MegaSilk, and Precise are my top three, in that order.

In the past, I used:

  • Mazani, Design Essentials, Dudleys, (what ever lye relaxer they had at the salon- got my hair straight, but burned me every single time
  • Moitons herbal, oil (lye)
  • PCJ Adult Formula- no lye
  • Dark and Lovely no lye
  • Revlon no lye
  • Silk Elements lye (mild, and regular)- left me severely under processed and burned my head

Some others, I can't remember them all.

I have been using Fiberguard's sensitive scalp no lye since I started my HHJ and I love it. I never burn and my hair is doing great. I use the whole system and will never switch to anything else.

When I was a teenager, my mom used Revlon, CON, Dudley's, but Hawaiin Silky had the best effect. My hair was always relaxed but had body with that. When I started living on my own, I tried a ton of boxed kits, which I can't recall.

Then when I started taking care of my own hair and took it seriously, Optimum was okay but Affirm has been my tried and true for almost 4 years now.

For the first time in years, I've switch to Motions. It was the straightest my hair has been in a long while, but I feel like I have no body, even 8 weeks in.

Anyone use Linange Shea Butter Relaxer/ Texturizer?? Reviews???

I just edited my original post years ago to include this relaxer. To me, it is the best relaxer I have ever used. I'll be ordering one this week to relax at the end of the month. For optimal results, make sure hair is free of any product build up and don't add anything to the relaxer. It works miracles.

Relaxers I have used

Profectiv (i went back to dark & lovely only because i could never find this one in my area always had to order online.
Dark & Lovely (still with this one)

Fabulaxer - blah
I think I tried Optimum and the Olive Oil brand once too.
Cream of Nature - Was great at first, but my hair was a mess after year or so. I didn't know about No-Lye and Chelating and was afraid of Lye.

Affrim (Lye) - Using it for about 4 months and it's he best so far...
