Relaxers - How often, results and deciding if the next one is a winner.

Alright, I am just curious how often do you all change relaxers? I seldom switch up but, is it really healthy for our hair? How long did it take you to find the one relaxer that left your hair satisfied? You know you've tried them all but, which one got you the smooth, silky, healthy and kept it growing results? How long do you go in between switching to another one if you didn't have the desired look you were going for? Do you often style your hair in a smooth and sleek flat ironed look to keep your hair from having wavy roots? Do you prefer to rollerset after a fresh relaxer? Hands down which one left you feeling like a winner before you got the finished result!

I've officially damaged my hair from switching relaxers (amongst a bunch of other stuff). I can tell because I can see where the old relaxer began and the new one started and there is often a breakage line there. So far, Design Essentials seems to be the love of my life--didn't leave my hair weak and thin like Silk Elements, nor permanently underprocessed like Motions. So far it leaves my hair so silky and strong that I have stopped using heat altogether since April when I bought it. I've had to cut off about 4 inches of hair over the last year, so I've been at collarbone length for almost a year.

I cowash (Tres Semme has limited cones & works well), oil wash and do 2 weekly DC -this has brought my hair back from the dead. I get about 1 1/2 of new growth every 6 weeks, so I'm really excited about getting to APL by December. Since I'm in Australia now, I can't afford a lot of fancy hair stuff, so I stick to the basics and my Design Essentials has yet to have let me down. Well worth the nuisance of getting it off E-bay.

I've switched relaxers a few times with no problems but only because I couldn't find anything to replace Design Essentials (when I was going to my stylist). I just put something in when I needed a perm so that would be about 6 -7 weeks. I had to use that SUCKY Motions which did nothing for my new growth.

As you can see in my signature, I do the happy dance EVERY time I relax with DE. I love that stuff and am so glad I bought it on ebay.

Depending on how I feel or what time of day it is that determines whether I wrap it or rollerset it. If it's late, I wrap it so I can sleep while it airdries. If I have time, to sit under the dryer, I roller set it.

Right now, I'm wearing updos through the winter to see if I can avoid breakage from scarves and wool collars and get past shoulder length. If I wrap it, I just use the Caruso rollers in the morning to get a roller set look and pin it up!
