Relaxer, when do you see breakage?

I haven't posted in quite some time--I hope y'all are all doing well. I just have a quick question, I got a relaxer yesterday--and something about this relaxer just does not feel right. Like the texture of my hair is different--I am wondering if it is b/c the person who normally sets my hair, did not set my hair OR did she change the relaxer normally used on my hair. Anyhow, bottom line, if you are a victim of a bad relaxer, when do you begin to experience breakage?

I am almost in tears b/c I have been working so hard to grow my hair...

Take care y'all,

A. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

can you try to describe exactly what feels different about your hair??? Is it brittle, dry, snapping easier or what?? I've read that washing your freshly relaxed hair 4 days after the application rids it of any remaining residue and improves the look of the hair (i haven't personaly tried this, but many attest to its benefits) Maybe you should give this method a try and be sure to deep condition and pre-condit if possible.if you decide to try this, let us know how it turns out!!!

Usually if you've had a bad relaxer, breakage can start as soon as a couple of days to a week after. Do you have any idea what relaxer she used? If you start seeing breakage, try doing a protein treatment. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

True!! I did it last night, after a relaxer I did on Wednesday I thought the relaxer didn't take as well even after a good rinsing and 5x shampoo. My scalp felt drier than usual as I based it with a moisturiser rather than petroleum like I usually do so maybe it got in contact with my scalp more. I gave it a good lathering yesterday a DC with Motions CPR and my hair felt and looked great.

Why wait?

I wouldn't wait to see breakage. Give yourself a good protein conditioner followed by an extra long moisturizing conditioner and then watch your hair for two weeks or so.

You may be able to head off any breakage at all if you give the hair a little muscle before the fact...

Good Luck. My fingers are crossed for you. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

**edited to add that I routinely wash two days after every relaxer even when it goes perfectly. I don't believe in "reversion" when it comes to relaxers and I like to give my hair some TLC as soon as possible**

Ladies,
Thank y'all for your responses. Hopefully, I won't see any breakage--honestly, I think I am just paranoid. But i will follow y'all's advice and tomorrow use my Aphogee--I love that stuff.

Y'all are wonderful

Thank you. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
