relaxer question

One of my good friends at school always used box perms dispite what I tell her. I even brought her a copy of the shambooise (sp?) book for her to look at one day. Well any ways she just did her relaxer and her roots are still very wavy and it is breaking alot. I told her no lye relaxers are not as consistent as some lye ones so she is finally starting to listen. My question for you is how long should she wait until she reapplys the relaxer and uses a lye one. I told her to deep condition twice a week and try agian in 4 weeks. Did I tell her the right thing?

I would tell her about the same. Tell her to wait until she would normally get another relaxer if she can. Tell her to do the protein conditioner like Shamboosie recommends to stop any shedding then use Nexxus Humectress which, Shamboosie also recommends. I stopped my damage from no lye relaxers like that. I hope that it works for her.

I think your advice was great but I also think that the second time around she needs to go to a professional and explain the situation to them and have them apply the relaxer. But the key thing is for her to condition and use protein conditoners such as CPR followed with moisturizing conditioners.

Relaxing is a tricky thing especially when you try to do it yourself take my word for it. Good luck to your friend and shes lucky to have a friend like you to advise her
