Ladies,

What are the steps when you do a Relaxer and Cellophane on the same day?

1. Relaxer, protein cond, wash, cellophane, DC
2. Relaxer, wash, cellophane,DC
3. Other ( please explain )
Thanks

At the salon, they dont DC because moisture can cause the color molecules to wash out easily...so I would definitely say to do your DC before the cellophane, not after, and use some sort of quick detangler or condish if your hair needs slip. I've DC'ed before a cellophane before and didnt have much problem, but I wasnt looking for intense color either.

(BTW, I'm talking about semi-perm colors such as Sebastian cellophanes and Kiss Express, Adore, etc.)

I PW'd LovelyLionessa earlier in the year regarding this as well. Here was her response:

"Following the neutralizing process, I towel dry my hair and apply a semi-permanent rinse. It's a good time to do that because, the color will take well following relaxing as the hair cuticles are more receptive then. Also, a lot of semi-rinses contain some protein, so I feel it helps to rebuild the hair and give thickness through this color & treatment in one.

I put the rinse on and cover with a plastic cap and leave on as long as the directions specify, usually somewhere between 15-25 minutes. Then when I rinse out, I use some conditioner to help rinse the color out. Then I proceed with deep conditioning."

Hello....I relax.....neutralize.....rinse/cellophane....the condition. You want to put the rinse/cellophane while the hair shaft is still open. If you do it after you condition, it will just sit on top and not last as long. hth

I relax, 1 minute protein, neutralize, quick condition in shower (3 minutes), apply cellophane rinse, go under the dryer for 30 minutes, then not under for about 30 more minutes, then DC for an hour or more (or 15 minutes under steamer), then porosity control on top of DC in the last 2 minutes in the shower, rinse.

I do a quick condition before, because I just like to soften my hair a bit. Then I prefer DC after to make sure it's soft. I personally also like how the DC takes some of the color of my scalp. And I notice that, I don't have any color rinsing off issues afterward. I personally hate to wash my hair later in the week and still have color flowing. For me going under the dryer helps it meld in better.
