How do you survive???? I'm trying to save for one but I'm on a BUDGET. I'll be honest air drying doesn't work for me. I like the way my hair looks with a nice silky shiny wrap!
I have a ceramic, tourmaline, ionic dryer with a comb attachment. I also have a ceramic flat iron but I have moved away from using because my hair also has highlights in it.
lately my salon has raised the prices of the wash and sets (Now they are 18 dollars..WTH. I bring my own products) needless to say I stopped going to them. Anywayz Ladies I need Help.. Don't be scurrred any advice or info is welcomed!!!

Have you gone to Sally's? Sometimes you can catch a good sale and get one for $40. I have a hooded dryer that I only use for dc'ing since my hair loves air drying.

Shucks back in the day/college I used my blow-dryer when my hooded dryer was broke...yeah it took a minute for my rollersets to dry but I had to STAY FLY...lol...

I purchased my hooded dryer from Sears, they were having a sale 25.99, its a Conair and works great. Before that I used my soft bonnet dryer which I bough on sale maybe 12 years ago for around 12 bucks aslo a Conair...it worked for 12 good years and was my best friend til the end....RIP Soft Bonnet Dryer, you are missed but never forgotten!

ETA: Sorry you asked for any tips since you dont have a dryer, my badd I get sentimental anytime I think of my old soft bonnet dryer.

Check out this youtube video to airdry with the outcome of straighter hair. I've tried this and it works pretty well:

I air dry but I own a heating cap so I use that for deep conditioning. Otherwise I would NEED a dryer.

I have a cheap hot tools maybe another brand, soft bonnet crappy one, never get good roller sets out of it. Stop using it over 3 months ago.

I just air dry in a set, flexi rod, wet wrap, braid out throw some setting lotion if i want the set to last, and Chi infusion for shine. Takes some practice.. but it comes out better than my lame attempt at roller setting with a crappy drier .. I have some cheap heating cap for DCs... this is how i make do.

I really want a hooded dryer too, but I have no money! Think I wouldn't get anything less than top quality.

Excuse ME Miss, hey lady! DE raised their prices? Uh oh. You know you can get a cheapy stand up dryer on fulton ave. There are a few BSS that sell them for around $50. I rollerset and use my hand dryer the last 20 min. By then its mostly air dried. I thought about getting an attachment hood. They sell them at folica.com for about $20.

HTH.

As others have said, just use a cheap soft bonnet dryer while you save up for the real thing. You can still make use of the soft bonnet too if you need to travel somewhere and you need to do your hair while you're away.

get a diffuser if you're really in a pinch

or you can give yourself blowouts with a round brush. i do this when i don't have time to set my hair.

What about just buying the attachment that goes on to your blow dryer.
